Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- This weeks Japanese hardware and software charts are in courtesy of Media Create and they once again show that the Nintendo 3DS continues to be the dominant force in Japan.
More After the Break...

The PlayStation Vita fared poorly this week only managing to muster 10, 302 sales, whereas the Nintendo 3DS sold an impressive 94, 011 units. On the software side of things Kid Icarus: Uprising reigned supreme at the number one spot. Here’s the Japanese software and Japanese hardware charts:

XSEED has confirmed that it’s bringing Japanese dungeon crawler Unchained Blades to the Nintendo 3DS eShop as a digital download later this year. Unchained Blades has been created by the masterminds behind the critically acclaimed Lunar and Grandia. The game will be fully localised with English voiceovers.
Han Randhawa, the art director behind the forthcoming Darksiders 2 has confessed that the Wii U is a “pretty powerful machine”. Randhawa’s quote slightly contradicts what we heard previously from Marvin Donald who stated that Wii U hardware is on par with the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Here’s what Han Randhawa’s had to say about Wii U:

“There is not much I can really talk about right now, but I think that the Wii U is a pretty powerful machine, which obviously means more resources, and means you can do a lot more. So the Wii U team is doing very well, we’ve been working with Nintendo and I think it’s going to be a very exciting version of Darksiders but we want to keep the overall theme relatively consistent.”

2.- Online publication The Consumerist has listed a number of companies that have been nominated for the award for The Worst Company In America 2012. Publisher and developer EA is in the running for the award and you’ll be able to vote for the company tomorrow. EA will be up against US firm ComCast and polls for each match will remain open for 12 hours. If you’re not an EA fan that be sure to vote here.
Nintendo has released five minutes of Fire Emblem: Awakening footage for your viewing pleasure. Nintendo Europe has already confirmed that the game is coming to Europe sometime later this year. Nintendo of America has yet to confirm its release in North America, but hopefully we will hear something at this years E3 event in June.
Matt from Block Punch has put together an infographic detailing exactly what has happened to the Nintendo 3DS since it’s launch in the United States and Europe one year ago. The infographic shows the turbulent ride the Nintendo 3DS has been on since it made its rocky debut in North America on March 27th 2011 and Europe on March 25th. Enjoy!

3.- Warren Spector, the developer behind Epic Mickey 2, told attendees at a Disney press event in Paris that Epic Mickey: The Power of Two will be released in Europe on September 26th. Spector declined to give a release date for Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, which is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS. Guess we will have to wait a little longer for that one.

To celebrate the Nintendo 3DS’ first birthday Nintendo is sending out Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime in Mii form to 3DS owners via SpotPass. Nintendo Europe recently send out a Satoru Iwata Mii character earlier this week to celebrate the systems first birthday in Europe. Reggie and Iwata can help you get the elusive pink puzzle pieces in Puzzle Swap, so be sure to get them via Mii Plaza.

Amazon has posted the official box art for Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, pictured above. The game will launch in North America by the end of 2012.

The new demo for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy has launched in Japan and Square Enix has released new screenshots and artwork from the game.
