Towards the end of the New Super Mario Bros U footage, Nintendo of America PR Manager Kit Ellis can clearly be heard saying “So that’s a look at New Super Mario Bros U, coming out for Wii U not too long after launch.”

During a recent interview, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was asked whether he felt that Nintendo is lagging behind rivals when it comes to online multiplayer. Iwataclaims that local cooperative play is Nintendo’s strength. Through local multiplayer, Iwata says, people can play and enjoy games together in the same room.Iwata believes that Nintendo shouldn’t try to compete with developers who make “Call of Duty-like games,” but instead invite them to develop their games, that are heavily reliant on online, for Nintendo platforms.
Satoru Iwata confirmed that Nintendo will not be selling the upcoming Nintendo 3DS XL at a loss. Nintendo intends to sell the 3DS XL for profit but, according to Iwata, the profit margin will not be huge. The 3DS XL will be sold for a suggested retail price of $199.99 in North America, but retailers will decide its price in Europe.
