Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Australian Nintendo 3DS owners to say that the ten free Gameboy Advance ambassador games are available to download.
More After the Break...

I assume you need to go to the Nintendo 3DS eShop and click setting and then ‘titles you’ve downloaded’ to access the games. Here’s the full list of games that are available to download for free.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
  • Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
  • Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Metroid Fusion
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • WarioWare Inc
  • Mario vs Donkey Kong
  • Wario Land 4
  • Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
  • Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Nintendo has announced that the 3DS has broken a sales record in Australia. The 3DS has become the fastest selling video game console to sell 200,000 units in 37 weeks. The 3DS beat out not only all other handheld consoles, but also all home consoles in this category.

Folks with a Japanese 3DS are now able to download the free GBA games via the Ambassador Program. If you’re elsewhere in the world, continue playing the waiting game or watch the above video.

Nintendo has revealed that European 3DS owners will receive two new video series for their 3DS. The first series will come via a dedicated application that will feature two to three minute videos from Eurosport’s WATTS program. The second series will only be available through the eShop to those in the UK and will consist of the Nintendo TV video series that was previously on the Wii, now in full 3D.

Nintendo today has released trailers for their upcoming eShop games Dillon’s Rolling Western and Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword and you can check for them after the break. You can also see them in 3D by downloading them from the eShop, along with the Kid Icarus: Uprising trailer that was previously released.

2.- Nintendo of Japan has announced that it’s preparing a downloadable fix for the game-breaking Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword glitch that was reported a few weeks ago. Anybody unable to connect their Wii to the internet will be able to send their console directly to Nintendo or an SD card featuring a corrupt Skyward Sword save file.

To celebrate The Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary Nintendo is releasing a special Zelda art book. The book is called Hyrule Historia and features 274 pages of concept and promotional art from throughout the critically acclaimed series. Hyrule Historia is due out on December 21st in Japan and is priced at ¥3255 (USD$41).

Researchers at Nielsen claim that Wii users who are 13 and older spend 33% of their time with the system streaming videos, compared to 20% who did so with the console last year. 55% of Wii owners time is spent playing games offline and 8% of the time is spent playing online.

3.- Nintendo will be providing 5,000 Nintendo 3DS consoles to the famous French art museum The Louvre. The Nintendo 3DS consoles will be available to attendees to rent and will be pre-loaded with special itineraries and guided audio-tours in seven languages.

The consoles will have special software developed exclusively by Nintendo.

Colors! 3D is a 3D painting application coming to the 3DS via the eShop. There are new screenshots that provide a better look at the application itself after the break, along the results you could possibly achieving using the application.

SEGA in Japan has released a five-minute trailer of Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure that shows off the story, gameplay and various other parts in the game. You can click here to check it out.

4.- We’ve heard mixed news from Sony regarding whether or not it’s possible to create multiple user accounts on the PlayStation Vita. Sony has now confirmed to Wired in an email on Thursday that Vita owners will have to reset their hardware to factory settings, deleting all of their data, in order to sign in with a different PlayStation Network account.

“The PSN account is tied to the hardware and the memory card, not just the card,” a different Sony representative said in an e-mail, “which means that if a second person is using your Vita, it’s not just a case of switching out memory cards, it’s clearing out all of your saved data on the Vita itself when you do the factory reset.”
“In other words, PlayStation Vita is intended to be played by only one user,” the representative said.

Andrew House, the president and group chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment has told Bloomberg that the PlayStation Vita has already sold out in Japan ahead of Saturday’s launch. House stated that the system has sold out on pre-orders alone.

The trailer demonstrates the ‘Cross Platform Gamematching’ between the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, along with the option to take a picture of yourself before each online race that will be displayed on other players’ screens if you finish on podium.

The touchpad on the back of the console will be used for acceleration while the touchscreen is used for activating shields and missiles.
Wipeout 2048 will also feature six-axis motion controls, but thankfully standard controls via the analog sticks remains an option.
Wipeout 2048 is a great example of the many different interfaces that come with the Playstation Vita.
The release date is still to be announced.

5.- According to SCE Bend Writer and Game Director John Garvin in an interview withNowGamer, Uncharted: Golden Abyss will last gamers “10+ hours”; longer than Uncharted 3′s 8-9 hour Campaign:
“We tried to focus on the kinds of things that read well on a 5-inch screen versus a 50-inch screen Story for example: we have over two hours of cinematics in a game that is 10+hours long, so story is very important to us, just like it is on the [PS3] console.”

In the interview, Garvin expresses his excitement towards the potential of the Vita platform:
“A driving narrative that makes you care what happens next, that compels you to get to the next chapter… that kind of experience is possible no matter what kind of platform you are on. I’m sure all Vita developers would tell you that we’re just scratching the surface of what this device can do. I’m really excited for what we’re going to see in the next few years.”

Developers Beatshapers and TastyPlay will bring the acclaimed StarDrone series to the PlayStation Vita as part of the launch lineup when the system launches in the Western Hemisphere.

Originally starting out as a flash game that went viral, StarDrone was later reinvented into an HD fast-paced arcade game for the PlayStation 3. The game was developed alongside the PlayStation Move Controller.

Featuring a top-down perspective, players pilot their Drone across the galaxy, collecting pieces of Equilibrix in order to restore the balance of the universe and stop the expansion of evil G-Noids.
