Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Square Enix has announced that Japanese consumers will be able to download a second Theatrhythm Final Fantasy demo. The demo will be available on the Japanese eShop on February 1st. There’s no word of a Western release date for either demo, but as soon as I hear anything I’ll let you all know.

More After the Break...
Nintendo of America has announced via a press release that the Pearl Pink Nintendo 3DS console will be available to purchase separately starting from February 10th. The Pearl Pink Nintendo 3DS will only previously available to purchase with Nintendogs + Cats. The console will be offered at a suggested retail price of $169.99.

2.- Resident Evil Revelations which launched on Friday in the United Kingdom has enteredthe UK all-format charts at number six.
Resident Evil Revelations is the seventh top-selling Nintendo 3DS title in the United Kingdom and sits alongside the likes of Mario Kart 7,Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D. The game launches in North America on February 7th .

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata reassured investors earlier last week that detailedannouncements regarding Wii U will coming at E3 in June, and not before then. Nintendo has already said it will be drip feeding Wii U information before the event in June, but as expected it’s clear that the big announcements will be kept under strict embargo until then.
“As we will showcase the Wii U at E3 in June this year, the detailed announcements must wait until then.”

3.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told investors that there’s a possibility that Nintendo will add additional stages to games such as Mario as downloadable content. Iwata stated that it would not only give Nintendo additional profits, but it will enable the game to remain fresh in the minds of gamers, and lengthen the life of the product.
“As I referred to before, for example, this is the idea of supplying new stages to Super Mario users who want to play the game more but have completed the game and lost interest in the existing stages. This will not only give us new profits but will lengthen the life of a product, in that it will never be out of fashion and can keep attracting public attention as long as many people play it.”
Youtube user Joel Furtado has made a stunning Legend of Zelda Wii U trailer to tide us over while we wait for the real Zelda Wii U footage to surface. The trailer uses a similar cell-shaded look that caused plenty of outcry when The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was released on the Nintendo Gamecube. Do you dig it? Or do you prefer the more realistic approach?

Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has confessed to investors that he feels pressured to find the next big hit Nintendo franchise which will change the face of the games industry and also the fortunes of Nintendo. Miyamoto wouldn’t be drawn into revealing his plans but we do know he’s been working on hard on a new Nintendo IP.
“I am spending more time than before on finding new ideas for new developments rather than focusing my energy on work in my (development) teams in order to solidify the contents of (existing) franchise titles. After all, developing big hit titles must be the solution [to Nintendo’s ongoing financial losses].”
“I am acting with the understanding that one big hit title can change multiple phases of a situation in the entertainment business, and I feel that finding such one big hit is my basic job.”

4.- Team Ninja, who is bringing Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge to the Wii U has shared that the platform is "very easy to develop for", which echoes what we've heard in the past. It was then elaborated that:
We’re finding it very similar to develop for Wii U as for the Xbox 360 and PS3. They’ve asked us what we would like to see from the hardware, and when we give them feedback we can see that they’re definitely listening to it and making changes. The hardware is still constantly changing.

It was also mentioned for the second time that touchscreen elements of Dragon Sword, their Ninja Gaiden game for the DS, will find their way into Razor's Edge on the Wii U, and it's also not ruled out that Dead or Alive 5 could end up on the system:
We’re thinking about all sorts of things. Right now, our Wii U development is focused just on Ninja Gaiden, but we’re definitely keeping other platforms in mind for DOA5.

And that's all sounding pretty darn agreeable to me.
Nintendo has announced that Tekken 3D Prime Edition will be launching in Australia on February 23rd. This is just a few days after the game’s release in Europe and North America, so the wait isn’t long for people who live down under. The game will include forty-one playable characters and the animated movie Tekken Blood Vengeance in full 3D.

Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword is coming to the 3DS via the eShop this Thursday, and there are already two reviews for the game. The first, from GameSugar shares the following:
Sakura Samurai offers a level of control where the proposition is simplistic, but the reactionary requirement leaves plenty to learn and master – put to the test beyond the campaign with thug challenges that task players with taking down a set amount of enemies in record time.

…while Nintendo Life had this to say:

With plenty to do for the willing and done well, Sakura Samurai is rewarding in a way that many games don’t aim for and, with a lengthier story mode, could easily pass for a retail game. Not bad for $7.

5.- Arc System Works has announced that Shifting World for the 3DS will be heading to Japan on April 26th. They also released two new screenshots that you can see after the break, and you can click here to read what we’ve written about the game in the past.

There is new footage of the Reality Shift moves from Kingdom Hearts 3D.
Nintendo has announced that a trailer for the 3D version of Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace will be released via Nintendo Video in the UK on February 9th. But this is The Phantom Menace we’re talking about, so avoiding it at all costs may be the smart thing to do. Still, the 3D effects might look cool on the 3DS. So that’s something.
