Information Update - Nintendo 3DS


1.- The Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated both Shinobi and Sonic Triple Trouble for the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Both games, which were developed by Sega, were previously available on the Game Gear.

Nintendo has also announced that Kid Icarus Of Myths and Monsters will be available on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop on February 8th. The Game Boy title was previously only available to purchase in Europe and North America but never made it to Japan.
Nintendo has uploaded a brand new trailer for The Last Story which shows off the numerous characters that feature in the highly anticipated game. The trailer also features English voice acting, which can be heard for the first time. The Last Story is coming to Europe on February 24th. Nintendo of America has yet to confirm a US release.


2.- Yosuke Hayashi, current head of the development studio Team Ninja, has hinted that Dead or Alive 5 could come to the Wii U. Team Ninja are currently busy developing Ninja Gaiden 3, but that didn’t stop Hayashi saying that it was possible that Dead or Alive 5 would arrive on the platform. Dead or Alive 5 is scheduled to come out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime later this year.
“We’re thinking about all sorts of things. Right now, our Wii U development is focused just on Ninja Gaiden, but we’re definitely keeping other platforms in mind for DOA5.”


This weeks Media Create Japanese software charts show that Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations managed to secure second place on its week of release. The software charts show that there were a grand total of twelve Nintendo related games in the top twenty overall. The Nintendo 3DS once against topped the Japanese hardware charts, easily outselling the competition selling 84,789.

3.- Nintendo has announced that it’s teaming up with iam8bit and Giant Robot to invite consumers to celebrate the release of the Rhythm Heaven Fever for the Wii. The launch party will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will have the chance to get hands-on time with the game in advance of its February 13th release. In addition guests will enjoy game play, food, beverages and music throughout the evening.

Nintendo Europe has announced via a press release that European Nintendo 3DS owners will have free access to over 5,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across 21 European countries. Your Nintendo 3DS will automatically connect to free-hotspot.com’s network in many of the biggest fast food restaurants and leading hotel chains across Europe including McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Subway, Ibis Hotels and Etap Hotels.
“With such an extensive European-wide Wi-Fi access network, partnering with free-hotspot.com made absolute sense. The access points are largely located in popular restaurants and hotels – places where Nintendo 3DS owners are likely to want, and to unwind in. We also urge all Nintendo 3DS owners to also take advantage of the latest System Update which has brought an array of new features and enhancements, including 3D video capture.”

4.- Popular UK games retailer GAME won’t be stocking new releases according to Now Gamer as the high street retailer has ”lost credit assurance with most of its publishers.” The company has told the publication that it will be stocking this weeks new releases, but it remains to be seen whether this will continue. GAME has struggled in recent times to compete against the supermarkets and online retailers.
Pokemon X Nobunaga’s Ambition which is due out on the Nintendo DSi will be region locked as it features DSi enhanced features. Nintendo hasn’t specified what these additional features are, but it will come as a blow to those looking to import the promising title. Nintendo has yet to announce whether the game will be receiving a Western release.

Club Nintendo in North America has added two new rewards for the 3DS to its catalogue today. The first of these rewards is the DSiware Art Academy: First Semester for the 3DS which will go for 150 Club Nintendo coins. The other reward is the previously revealed 3DS card case that can hold up to 18 games. The case will come with some replacement double sided covers and will retail for 250 coins. The DSiware game will only be available until the 29th of February.
Chunsoft in Japan has released a demo for Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die on the 3DS. The demo features some story elements and one escape stage.

5.- Nintendo in Japan has announced that the second entry into the Kid Icarus series, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy is coming to the Virtual Console on the 3DS on the 8th of February. No word yet on a release outside of Japan, but it shouldn’t be too long before we hear something about it.
