Information Update - Nintendo 3DS


1.- We already know that the sequel to the well received Epic Mickey is currently in development at Disney, but what we didn’t know is that it should be heading to Wii U. The information was found by internet sleuth Super Annuation who Tweeted the following:

Apparently Junction Point is “implementing Wii U support for Epic Mickey 2.” Not sure if that means WiiU SKU or Wii version supports tablet.
Online gaming publication Eurogamer has written an interesting piece detailing the slow decline of Rare as one of the world’s top development studios. The article has plenty of interviews with various key developers and ponders whether it was Microsoft who killed Rare, or Nintendo by letting the veteran developer go. Who do you think ruined Rare?
Nintendo has revealed that it will be participating in two presentations at this years Game Developers Conference, which takes place on March 5 through 9 in San Francisco’s Moscone Centre. Nintendo’s first session will be ”Thinking in 3D: The Development of Super Mario 3D Land” and the second session which Nintendo will be participating in is titled “Existential Crisis: Do We Really Need AI?.”

2.- Nintendo has officially confirmed that Kirby’s Dream Land 2 will be joining Wario Land and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop. Kirby’s Dream Land 2 is due to be released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop this week in Japan, but Nintendo has yet to confirm when we will get it in the West.
US retail emporium GameStop has slashed the pricing of the Nintendo 3DS to $150 ahead of the release of Sony’s PlayStation Vita, which is due for release on February 22nd in North America. Other retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are still charging the recommended retail price of $169.99. Maybe we will see other retailers follow suit?

A source close to Dual Pixels has told the publication that Ubisoft is preparing to unleash Lady Gaga on Wii U and Wii via its forthcoming game Lady Gaga: The Experience. Ubisoft will reportedly be announcing the game at this years E3 event in June. Previous entries in the Experience franchise include Michael Jackson and Black Eyed Peas, so it doesn’t sound too far-fetched that we will be seeing a Lady Gaga iteration. Bet you can’t wait.

3.- Online gaming publication Siliconera has revealed that Kid Icarus: Uprising will come bundled with six augmented reality cards. When you place two of the cards together and scan them with the Nintendo 3DS camera your characters of choice will pop out and battle against each other. Kid Icarus: Uprising launches March 23rd in Europe and North America.
It has been revealed that there are bosses in Rune Factory 4 that become potential spouses after you have defeated them. The two that have been revealed so far are the bright and cheery girl named Kohaku, who transforms from a butterfly-like creature, and the quiet boy named Dilas, that turns from a unicorn-like creature into a human. 

Namco Bandai has shared that Tekken 3D Prime Edition will feature the following modes:
Survival – Tests how long you can keep fighting on one bar of health.
  • Quick – Fight ten battles in quick succession known.
  • Practice – Hone your skills.
  • Cards – Look at the special cards you can collect via StreetPass (more details here).
  • Profile – View your records and customize the color of the characters.
Gamelion Studios has announced that they’re bringing SpeedX 3D, a tunnel-racing game, to the eShop. The original game has received over ten million downloads via iOS, Android and other platforms and will be released “soon”. That’s as specific of a release date have for now.

4.- The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has confirmed that, in regards to the DLC program for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, there will be 8 songs available for purchase when it launches in Japan. The songs will cost ¥150 each, or about $1.95. There will be new songs every two or three weeks from both the numbered and non-numbered Final Fantasy games.
