Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- An Infinity Ward engineer’s resume seems to hint that the next edition of the immensely popular Modern Warfare series will be heading to both next generation and current generation platforms. Alongside the currently available consoles there’s an intriguing “TBA” for other unannounced platforms. It seems reasonably likely that we will be seeing the game on Wii U, and at a long-shot the Wii.

Famed Wedbush Morgan industry analyst Michael Pachter doesn’t believe that the Nintendo 3DS XL will be the saving grace for Nintendo. Pachter also believes that Sony’s troubled PlayStation Vita is just too expensive for consumers.

“The larger 3DS format is not all that compelling for the consumer,”he said, “and although I think the XL will help sales, I don’t think that the impact will revive weak sales of handhelds overall.”

“Vita’s too expensive for most, priced pretty much the same as the PS3 everywhere. While I think the Vita is a good value and a great device, when compared to the PS3 it’s pretty expensive.

“Also, there is not much of a library of Vita games, so sales will probably be slow until we see more content.”

Nintendo has revealed that they will be holding a special Dragon Quest X themed Nintendo Direct on Monday, July 30 at 20:00 JST. Satoru Iwata will once again be at the helm discussing everything you want to know about Dragon Quest X which is released in Japan on August 2nd.

Nintendo has announced that it plans to sell a combined total of 10.5 million Wii and Wii U console during the fiscal year ending March 2013. With Wii sales slowing down, Nintendo clearly hopes the majority of those sales will be for the Wii U which is due for release this holiday season.
