Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- The first details regarding Sonic Generations on the 3DS have been revealed via Nintendo Power. The Classic Sonic gameplay is said to be very simplified and platform heavy.

But Modern Sonic has gameplay like Sonic Rush and Sonic Colors on the DS. The article notes that the console version and the 3DS version will have some differences such as:
  • Different stages
  • Less characters on the 3DS version
  • Challenges exclusive to the 3DS that can only be unlocked through StreetPass or Play Coins
  • Exclusive two player race mode over local wireless connection
  • Slightly different story
One tidbit that might make Sonic fans happy is that the game will have many elements from past Sonic games. For example, Doctor Robotnik appears in his Genesis form along with the Big Arm boss from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is also confirmed in this game.
Along with the first details about Sonic Generations on the 3DS, Nintendo Power also shared a solid batch of the first screenshots. They’re not the clearest images as they are extracted from magazine scans. But they still give us a fair decent look at what to expect from the game and I’m satisfied with what I’ve seen.
After the break.

Sega has also cancelled the fantastic looking Sonic Generations for the Nintendo Wii due to the systems graphical constraints.
Sonic Team believe that the game “wasn’t a good fit” for Sega’s concept of “reimagining the series’ classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics.” Clearly this will come as a disappointment for many considering the huge Sonic fan base on the Nintendo Wii. Do you think Sega was right to cancel Sonic Generations for Wii?
“The primary goal for the console versions of Generations was reimagining the series’ classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics. The Wii hardware wasn’t a good fit for that concept, so we abandoned development on that, and decided that for our Nintendo audience, we would make a fresh start with a N3DS version of Generations.”
- Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Team

2.-  Shinobi was revealed to be coming to the 3DS. And now we have the first four screenshots from the game.
The art style is quite pronounced so I’m keen to see this game in action and hopefully that will happen at E3.

For long-time fans of the series, you may be interested to hear that the game features a new hero, so I’m assuming this is not a direct sequel to any of the previous games. The only other news is that the game has StreetPass support, but we’re not sure what this allows for it. It’s in there though.
You can also read this summary from GoNintendo for information about the first level of the game. Keep in mind it’ll spoil that part of the game as there’s a lot of cinematic moments mentioned that you may want to experience yourself for the first time.

Noticias Nuevas - Nintendo 3DS
