Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Rayman Origins creative director Michel Ancel has told Gamasutra that while he has respect for Shigeru Miyamoto and is a fan of the Zelda franchise, he just can’t get into the Mario games.
More After the Break...

“I will tell you something terrible — I don’t really enjoy playing Mario games. I don’t like gliding, I don’t like its inertia, and I don’t like not being able to give some slaps! It’s a fabulous series, and I understand that people love it, but it’s not my cup of tea.”
“I used to prefer Ghosts n’ Goblins, Heart of Darkness, Another World – games with a focus on the narrative side. Beyond that, I find Mario‘s controls very interesting, but I don’t buy it. I can’t help but seeing the ropes of the game, even if it works.”

Michel Ancel has been referred to as ”the French Miyamoto” which is something he says he’s deeply honoured by, but he admits he’s very different from Nintendo’s legendary games designer.

“I’m very different from Miyamoto.”
“I really loved the idea of introducing artistic features in games — that is to say the storytelling, the artwork, music — and to get everything together in the best possible alchemy. We have two different approaches, two different tracks.”

2.- F1 2011 has never provided the impression of being a worthy purchase. Unfortunately, those impressions seem to have been spot-on based on what Nintendo Life had to say about the game. Here’s their conclusion:

F1 2011 is u,nfortunately, not the game to remedy matters. Unless you’re a fan of frustrating ugly racers with brutally unrealistic and aggressive opponent AI, we advise that you steer well clear of it. Maybe next year, Codemasters will release the game that F1 fans deserve.

3.- Capcom has revealed that the spectacular Monster Hunter 4 trailer for the Nintendo 3DS which was shown off in September was from a playable build of the game.

Kaname Fujioka, the director behind Monster Hunter Tri G, revealed to Satoru Iwata that the trailer was in fact made from development staff playing the game.

The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has told GameInformer that he personally wants to drive The Legend of Zelda series forward. Initially Aonuma was happy making small, individual changes to the series but he now feels it’s time to seriously evolve the franchise.
“I started working on the series not at the beginning but part-way through its history. I think because of that, early on I was more looking objectively at the series and how we could change small, individual elements within it, rather than looking at how the series should evolve. As time has passed – particularly in the last few years – I’ve started to think a lot more about how I can take the series and really make it my own Zelda and evolve it further. As Mr. Miyamoto has allowed me to take the reins on the Zelda series, ultimately that’s what I need to do. Perhaps some people will think it’s a little bit late for me to start thinking about that, but as time goes by, that’s becoming more of a theme in how I’m approaching the series.”

4.- There are new screenshots showing off the Jhen Moran sub-species from Monster Hunter Tri G that you can find after the break.

Cacpcom has revealed that as a hunter in Monster Hunter Tri G, you will be given a ‘Guild Card’ that will include character information, hunting data, an unlockable title of your choice and a small message. You exchange these cards through StreetPass and hire the hunters you meet through this process to do missions for you. You can check after the break for images of the Guild Cards and various other screenshots.

King of Pirates was revealed a while back, but we haven’t seen any gameplay footage. Luckily, Marvelous AQL has revealed that the game will be making its playable debut at the Jump Festa event in Japan. The event is open to the public, so it’s likely that footage of the game and details will make their way online.

Marvelous AQL has revealed that Harvest Moon: The Land’s Origins will be launching in Japan on the 23rd of February, 2012. They also revealed that the game will be playable at the Jump Festa event in Japan, which means we may get new details and footage.
