1.- Nintendo’s new Legend of Zelda book titled Hyrule Historia has revealed The Legend of Zelda timeline that fans have been struggling to comprehend for years.
More After the Break...

Kotaku and theOfficial Nintendo Magazine are confident that this is the official timeline, but Nintendo may decide to say that this isn’t the super secret timeline that they’ve been guarding for all these years. What do you think?

Nintendo has released a full Wii channel in order to fix the game-breaking bug that can be found in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. All you need to do is download the Zelda Data Restoration Channel from the Wii Channel section of the Wii Shopping Channel, boot the channel up, and follow the instructions.

This weeks Media Create figures are in and they clearly show that the Nintendo 3DS outsold the recently released PlayStation Vita in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS managed to sell an impressive 367,691 units whilst the PlayStation Vita sold 324,859 units. Also of note is that seven of the top ten games were on Nintendo platforms. I’m sure Nintendo is busy celebrating.

2.- Online gaming publication Siliconera has discovered that Square Enix has recently issued a new trademark for the critically acclaimed The World Ends With You in Japan. This doesn’t necessarily mean we will get a new The World Ends With You game, but we can all live in hope.

Nintendo has announced via a press release that it’s teaming up with Namco Bandai to launch Tekken 3D Prime Edition across Europe. Tekken 3D Prime Edition is scheduled for release exclusively on Nintendo 3DS across Europe on the 17th February 2012.

Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories and Australia, with Namco Bandai Games Europe S.A.S. remaining as the publisher.

Sega’s Sonic 4 Brand Manager Ken Balough has given the first hint towards the incoming Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. Balough provided the following hint on the Official Sega Forum’s which Sonic fans believe points toward a December 29th announcement.
As mentioned before, once Sonic CD was out, I would hint at where yould be able to get the first official news of Episode II! So here goes guys!
If you’re an Episode II fan
I would go back to where the Sonic 4 Campaign first began
In a month filled with presents and Christmas hams
think of the day, the HMS Warrior first swam
Cheers,
Ken

3.-  Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Tri G has already sold 1,000,000 copies since it’s release on December 10th. There’s not much else to say about this aside from noting the obvious in how crazy these numbers are. Let’s hope it’s enough for Capcom to localise the game (and seriously, it should be).

For the time being, you can click here to watch the twenty minutes of footage from the game.

Update: Aw, bugger. I jumped the gun on this story. It’s 1,000,000 units shipped, not sold. As far as sales are concerned, it’s closer to 500,000 units so far. Still a huge amount, but not as impressive as the mistaken figure. Sorry about that.

SEGA has revealed that Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure will launch in Japan on January 19th. Also revealed is that, in the game, you are able to collect medals by clearing rhythm games and by checking suspicious places. These medals allow you to buy cutscenes you’ve previously seen and items to help you out in the game. You’ll also be able to challenge your friends through a local wireless connection and through Download Play. You can check after the break for lots of screenshots.

SEGA has revealed that CRUSH3D will be making its way to Japan on the 23rd of February.

Swapnote is confirmed to be arriving on December 22nd in Europe and Japan, and I imagine it’ll also be coming to North America on that same day.

Nintendo has confirmed they will be publishing Tekken 3D Prime Edition throughout Europe. The game itself will be available from February 17th onwards.

Square Enix has released the first direct-feed screenshots of Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland 3D. They can be found after the break.

Nikkei in Japan is reporting that the 3DS is very close to reaching 4,000,000 units sold in Japan. Apparently, from the week of the 12th of December to the week of the 18th of December, the 3DS sold about 390,000 units. This puts the current 3DS total in Japan at 3.6 million units. And given that there are two weeks left in the year, it is possible the 3DS will reach the next million-based milestone before 2012 rolls around.

4.- Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, seemed to enjoy the launch titles for the PlayStation Vita based off of these scores:
  • Army Corps of Hell (PSV) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]
  • Asphalt: Injection (PSV) – 7/7/7/7 [27/40]
  • BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (PSV) – 9/9/8/8 [34/40]
  • Dark Quest: Alliance (PSV) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]
  • Dynasty Warriors Next (PSV) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
  • F1 2011 (PSV) – 8/7/7/6 [28/40]
  • Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational (PSV) – 9/9/8/8 [34/40]
  • Lord of Apocalypse (PSV) – 9/9/8/8 [34/40]
  • Michael Jackson: The Experience HD (PSV) – 7/7/6/7 [27/40]
  • New Kamaitachi no Yoru: The Eleventh Suspect (PSV) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
  • Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen (PSV) – 8/8/8/7 [31/40]
  • Touch My Katamari (PSV) – 8/9/7/8 [32/40]
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (PSV) – 8/8/7/8 [31/40]
  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss (PSV) – 9/9/8/9 [35/40]
  • Virtua Tennis 4 (PSV) – 9/9/9/8 [35/40]
That is an average score of 32/40. Launch games tend to score weakly so this is a welcome surprise.

Capcom Europe has finally decided to show-off the stunning European box art for the forthcoming Marvel VS Capcom 3 on the PlayStation Vita. The game isn’t due out February 2012 but it looks set to become a welcome addition to the PlayStation Vita games library.

Japanese company, Media Create, released its first weekly results that include Vita software sales numbers. Four Vita games appear in the Top 20 with Hot Shots Golf (Listed at 7) being the big seller for Vita at over 61,000 units sold while Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Listed at 8) follows closely behind at over 48,000 units sold.

Remember that Vita games are also available digitally through the PlayStation Store and that Media Create does not track those numbers. Sony must be pretty pleased with these numbers and might just consider the launch of the Vita a success.

David Wilson, head of UK PR at Sony Computer Entertainment has denied that the company has issued an apology after a number of early PlayStation Vita adopters took to Youtube to show off freezing and touch screen issues. Wilson says the only apology Sony has given is for the technical help line, which experienced problems post PlayStation Vita launch.
“The PS Vita has had a terrific launch and sold in large numbers. We’re annoyed with these stories, because we can’t find any evidence of widespread glitches,” he said. “The stories even said that Sony has issued an apology for PS Vita glitches, which simply isn’t true — there’s an apology on our Japanese website for people who are having trouble getting through to our technical help line, but that’s it.”
