Sega has announced via the official Sega blog that Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure for the Nintendo 3DS won’t be coming to North America until July 10th. Sega Europe has already announced that it’s partnering up with Nintendo Europe to release the game in European territories on April 5th.Update: Sorry, it’s Ghost Recon Online that’s confirmed for Wii U and not Future Soldier.
Capcom Japan has announced via Twitter that famed developer Yoshinori Oni has temporarily stepped down from his position as he focuses on recovery. Oni was rushed to hospital earlier this week while promoting Tekken X Street Fighter. Thankfully he has revealed that he is currently on the mend and that another Capcom staff member will take over his position for the time being.
2.- Naotaka Hayashi, the creator behind the oddly named Bravely Default: Flying Fairy has explained to Japanese publication Famitsu why the development team decided to give the game such a bizarre name. Bravely Default apparently refers to bravely taking the step towards turning your back on your promises and responsibilities. Here’s a few more choice quotes about Square Enix’s forthcoming JRPG.
During the latest Iwata Asks segment Kid Icarus: Uprising producer Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that the game was originally developed on the Wii and the PC as Project Sora didn’t have access to a Nintendo 3DS development kit.
- Naotaka is responsible for creating the entire scenario plot and themes, as well as defining all the characters in the game. He is also writing the actual text script in the game, although he does work with both Square Enix and Silicon Studio staffers to iron out the finer details of the story.
- The game will be pretty character driven, with the characters in the game learning that their personal views don’t always match with that of a world at large, and while they begin with certain missions or goals, such conflicts will cause them to question their approach towards the world and others.
- The title of the game is Bravely Default. What does it mean? It actually means exactly what you might think it means. It refers to bravely taking the step towards turning your back on your promises and responsibilities.
During the latest Iwata Asks segment Kid Icarus: Uprising producer Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that the game was originally developed on the Wii and the PC as Project Sora didn’t have access to a Nintendo 3DS development kit.

“At first we didn’t have the Nintendo 3DS development kit, so we started making it on a PC. Oh, and for a while we were using a Wii to make it!”
3.- Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has told The Verge that Aliens: Colonial Marines on Wii U will be the best version of the game. Pitchford told the publication that the Wii U version of Aliens can do so much more than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the game. Here’s what Randy had to say about the forthcoming Wii U version:

“The Wii U version has so much more to offer … no other platform can do what the Wii U can do. If you love [Xbox] 360 games, you are not used to being in a world where you have this new interface. But once you get used to that, you imagine the possibilities; there are some opportunities that are just not possible on any platform that does not have that device.”
Pitchford hints that using the Wii U controller as a motion tracker, or in other ways that evoke signature moments form the films will lure gamers to the Wii U for their Aliens fix.
“I don’t want to give spoilers away on some of things we are thinking of or things we have actually implemented already,” he said, “but a lot of cool opportunities with that device that are going to make a very unique and compelling experience on that platform. We have given a lot of attention. I think it will not be too long [before] Nintendo opens up their kimono a little bit more about that platform and where it is going, we will be there right with them talking about how Aliens is using it.”
Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be on display at PAX East. It will not be playable, but on April 6th, 7th, and 8th there will be live gameplay demonstrations. This won’t be for the Wii U, but we should at least have our first look at extended gameplay footage.

Mister Gaga
I’m psyched for Assassin’s Creed 3 too. Although I’m not among those statistics. I haven’t been buying any of my games since DISH, my employer, released the Blockbuster @Home service. With video game and movie rentals by-mail, a bunch of movie channels, and unlimited streaming, it’s a lot like having Gamefly and Netflix rolled into one. The only thing that concerns me with AC3 is that I’m hoping they revamp the combat some. I hated the way you could just stand there blocking and do instant kills whenever someone attacked you. It made it too easy.
