More After the Break...

Yesterday I reported that Sega has decided to cancel a number of its projects and will instead focus on existing IP’s after the company posted an extraordinary loss of 7.1 billion yen. Sega has now issued a press statement regarding the critical situation which can be read below:

Due to the challenging economic climate and significant changes within the interactive gaming industry, SEGA has made the decision to consolidate its publishing business in order to focus on developing digital content and driving its existing IP such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, Football Manager and the Aliens franchise. This realignment of the business around existing and digital IP is a necessity to ensure that SEGA continues to invest and enhance its digital business offering, whilst reducing its reliance on traditional packaged goods.
As a result of the SEGA Sammy Board decision to consolidate the business, many of our internal functions will be re-structured and this could result in a number of redundancies within the publishing business across the Western organisation. The company will be entering into a re-structure phase to reflect the unprecedented change in our industry and to move the company forward appropriately.
The changes will position SEGA as a content led organisation, maximising sales with a strong and balanced IP portfolio across both packaged and digital distribution. The management team are confident that the proposed restructure will benefit the company and make it fit for purpose within the changing nature of the industry over the coming years.

Famed Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Oni has taken to Twitter to tell fans that he isn’t leaving the Capcom until the company fires him. Oni was recently taken to hospital and is currently recovering. Capcom has stated that they’ve brought in a replacement until Ono gets better.

Hahaha yeah! I’m staying when Capcom say me “fire!” until. RT @Traptrox:Plz Don’t Leave I Wish U Make a New Power Stone and Darkstalkers.

2.- Japanese publication The Nikkei has announced that Apple is Japan’s top consumer brand with a staggering 90.5 points (out of 100) for total brand power for its products. The top consumer brand was voted on by the Japanese public. Sadly the report doesn’t mentioned where Nintendo or any of the other video game firms were placed
Team 17, the development team behind the famed Worms franchise, has announced a new game in the series titled Worms Revolution. The game builds on the original Worms title that was released back in 1995 but comes packed with plenty of new features. Team 17 has revealed that Worms Revolution is in development for “consoles” and PC.

Dragon Quest X was confirmed for the Wii U a long while ago and, although we only have screenshots from the Wii version of the game, we can at least expect a similar aesthetic, so they’ll have to do for now.

A supposed press release from Ubisoft has stated that Assassin’s Creed 3 on the Wii U specifically will be released on the 31st of October. This would suggest the system itself would be available at this point. But there’s confusion about whether this press release is actually from Ubisoft, and even if it is, the date could simply be a mistake. I’d be wary to believe that even Nintendo is 100% sure of the system’s release date.

3.- There is new footage from Shifting World that shows two items you can use in the game.

There are new screenshots and artwork from Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.
