Information Update - Nintendo 3DS


1.- An image of a Target pre-order card sent in to IGN confirms that Treyarch’s next Call of Duty game is officially Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The pre-order cards also reveal that the game is due to be released on November 13th 2012 and will be headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The debut trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be shown on Tuesday May 1st during the NBA playoffs.

Crytek UK has confirmed that unfortunately TimeSplitters 4 isn’t in development. We heard earlier this week that a few key developers had seen the game up and running which presumably wasn’t true. A Crytek UK company spokesperson joked that the company had “spent all of the development budget on buying monkeys.” When he was quizzed for a more serious answer, the individual confirmed: “No, it’s not in development.”

Famitsu readers have submitted their most wanted games this week and the PlayStation 3 has once again come out top. Still, there’s an impressive five Nintendo related titles in the top ten including Square Enix’s Dragon Quest X for Wii and Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: Jump Out.

Game Informer Editor-in-Chief, Andy McNamara has teased that the next issue of US publication Game Informer will feature a ‘surprising’ cover story. McNamara was quick to shoot down any speculation that the publication will be featuring Grand Theft Auto V on the cover. What would you like to see revealed in the next edition of Game Informer?

2.- Nicalis, the publisher behind VVVVVV has announced via Twitter that the game will finally be coming to Europe on May 10th. The game is already available to purchase in North America, so it’s excellent to have a firm release date for VVVVVVV in Europe. The game has received positive reviews on both the Nintendo 3DS and PC.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is discouraged by the fact that Mario titles don’t seem to be selling as well in the UK as they do in the rest of the world. Iwata says Nintendo need to “greatly improve this situation” though he wouldn’t reveal exactly how Nintendo plans to do this.

“Although there are six titles for the Nintendo platforms, the two Mario titles for the Nintendo 3DS have the smallest presence in the world. We need to promptly improve this situation.”

New details have emerged regarding Slightly Mad Studios racing simulation game, Project Cars. The promising racer has already been confirmed for Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and is set to arrive sometime next year.The studio has released some official documentation explaining how the Wii U controller will be utilised with the game.
Screen as primary view - I.e., allowing you to transfer play of the game between the TV and on-the-go around the house.
Screen as secondary view - Switch between rear-view mirror, overhead map, telemetry.
Primary input method - Drive by tilting the controller, on-screen buttons replicate the buttons/switches on a real wheel (push to toggle on/off or flip-up/down).
Secondary input method - Manage decisions in the pits (swiping through tire choices, setting fuel amount).
Camera - personalise your profile, pose for the podium.
Menu navigation method - Flick photos from your gallery to the TV, private chat with team-mates.
