More After the Break...

Interweb rumours of SEGA Europe closing are false. Rumours of Dirk Kuyt signing for Fenerbache? Much more likely.

Gearbox Software art director Brian Cozzens has told Nintendo Gamer that Nintendo has listened to developer feedback regarding Wii U, which suggests that we will hear about some of these changes during the Nintendo Direct presentation tonight. Cozzens also went on to say that “we’ll see some cool stuff that we’ve had some influence over” and that the “final controller specs are going to be awesome.”

A number of journalists were left a mysterious phone message this weekend which said “Have you heard about Wii U? If not…you will.” Well, it turns out the message was from Bloober Team who were virally marketing their new game for Wii U. Bloober’s new game is titled Medium, and is coming to just about every platform imaginable. The game issaid to feature a “completely new model of gameplay”.

Crytek Founder and CEO Cevat Yerli has reiterated to German publication Golem that the development studio currently hasn’t got any plans to develop for Wii U. Yerli did confirm that a number of Wii U games could incorporate the company’s CryEngine.

A rumour has appeared ahead of E3 which suggests that Sega Europe is about to close its doors. Sega is apparently closing its European branches due to the ineffectiveness of Sega’s strategy over the past several years of developing games by western developers. Sega is also expected to announce that it will no longer produce AAA titles on consoles, and will now devote its time on digital games which will be mainly for cell phones and tablet devices.

French gaming publication GameKyo has managed to take some intimate snapshots of the Wii U crates that will soon be littering the E3 show floor. The publication also snapped some shots of the ominous black Nintendo Escalade SUV’s that have arrived at the conference centre. Nintendo’s E3 presentation begins Tuesday June 5th 9AM PT.

Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aime are in California preparing for E3. Nintendo has four major events planned for this year’s E3 – beginning with today’s pre-E3 Nintendo Direct at 3 p.m. PDT. Nintendo has confirmed that new information about Wii U will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo’s E3 presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 5th at 9 a.m. PDT. Nintendo’s developer discussion with Katsuya Eguchi, the Wii U hardware producer, also takes place on Tuesday but at 11:30 p.m. PDT. On Wednesday, June 6th, Nintendo will have a software showcase at 6 p.m. PDT. Are you ready for a week packed with Nintendo news?

Many video game journalists received a phone call by an unknown caller, possibly someone from Nintendo. You can check out the video above to hear the message, which mentions the Wii U’s name. The brief message says, “Have you heard about Wii U? If not…you will.” The message arrived before Nintendo announced that they will hold a Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct tomorrow, so it may be an official teaser by them.

On Spike’s “All Access Weekly,” video games journalist Geoff Keighley has announced that a new Mario game will launch with the Wii U. Keighley didn’t specify which Mario game will be released. On the Wii U Facebook page, Nintendo teased (but didn’t reveal) three video games that will launch alongside their new console – could a new 3D Super Mario title be one of them? We should find out which games will be launching with the Wii U in a couple of days during E3.
