1.- Back in April, Nintendo announced that it was Kirby’s 20th Anniversary. To celebrate, Nintendo will be releasing a collection of Kirby games on one disk for Wii. The official name of the compilation is Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition. The game will be released in September. Even though this is a Wii game, you can still play it on the upcoming Wii U. Nintendo hasn’t announced which Kirby games will be on the disk – which ones are you hoping for?

This video is taken recently from the Nintendo Channel in Japan. It shows new footage from the upcoming Pokemon games for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. In Pokemon Black and White 2, players can create their own shops and visit shops created by their friends – this new feature is called Join Avenue. Missions are back from Pokemon Black and White but are now called Fez Missions. There is some sort of medal system within the game, which is also a new addition from Pokemon Black and White.Shigeru Miyamoto has confessed to Kotaku that the reason Wii U sits horizontally is due to the fact that the design team didn’t want consumers to confuse Nintendo’s next generation console with its current Wii system. Miyamoto then went on to explain that Nintendo want people to focus on the console’s unique controller, rather than the actual system design.
Sony Computer Entertainment US boss Jack Tretton has confirmed to GameTrailers that they’re not looking to rush the PlayStation 4 to market to battle Wii U and the next Xbox console from Microsoft. Tretton claims that the company would rather “build a better” and more expensive console and launch it after its rivals, than rushing it out. Good idea?
“We’ve never been first. We’ve never been cheapest. It’s about being the best,” he said. “If you can build a better machine and it’s going to come out a little bit later, that’s better than rushing something to market that’s going to run out of gas for the long term.
“Ideally, in a perfect world, you want the best machine that ships first that’s cheapest. But the number one goal is to be the best machine and that’s what we’re always focused on.”
Nintendo’s shares have fallen sharply this morning following the Wii U presentation at Nintendo’s E3 press conference yesterday. The Japanese stock market reacted badly to the presentation – which saw share prices drop 2.68 per cent since trading opened today. Investors were more interested with Sony, as the company’s shares rose 2.14 per cent overnight. Sony shares performd even better in New York as they rose 3.21 per cent.
2.- Nintendo has confirmed that WiiWare, Virtual Console, and your all-important Wii saves will be transferable to Nintendo’s next console, Wii U. Obviously this is huge news for all those existing Wii owners looking to migrate over to Wii U when the console launches this holiday season.
Larry Frum, a video game journalist from CNN, was at E3 trying out Wii U on Tuesday. Frum begins his Wii U impression-article with a rhetorical question – “Will Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U controller breathe new life into its aging Wii console?” Although Frum had a lengthy hands-on demo with Wii U during E3, he does not know that it is a brand-new console .
Frum thinks that Wii U is a new controller for the six-year-old Wii. I guess people are still confused about whether Wii U is a new console – even some video game journalists. Frum also talks about his experience with Wii U games and toward the end of the article, he calls Pikmin 3 a “kid title.”
