1.- Ubisoft EMEA MD, Alain Corree, has told MCV that the company believes that Wii U will satisfy hardcore gamers. Corree believes that Wii ultimately appealed to the causal market, but he strongly believes that Wii U will cater to both. Ubisoft says it has been ”a strong believer in Wii U since day one”, and that the company’s games “appeal to Nintendo gamers”.

More After the Break...

Earthbound Central has apparently received word from a Nintendo of America employee that Earthbound hasn’t appeared on the Virtual Console for a number of reasons. Nintendo of America basically wanted to make some changes to the game, but Nintendo Japan is reluctant to implement those changes. Here’s what apparently needs to be changed before the game can appear on the Virtual Console:

The Sky Runner song needs to be changed
The Chuck Berry battle song needs to be changed
The Dali’s Clock enemy name needs to be changed

Square Enix has revealed that its impressive next generation Luminous Engine isn’t just for next generation consoles, such as the next Xbox and PlayStation 4. Square Enix’s chief technical officer and Luminous demo producer Yoshihisa Hashimoto said that the engine is so scalable that it can accommodate next-gen and mobile devices such as the iPad. It sounds reasonably likely that Wii U will also be able to run this gorgeous engine.

During E3, video game journalist Neal Ronaghan played New Super Mario Bros. U for Wii U and, while he was playing, asked a Nintendo representative where to find the Flying Squirrel suit. The representative corrected him by saying that Mario doesn’t wear suits but instead transforms into something after he touches a special item. Ronaghan then asked if the claim is a response to PETA’s attacks on Nintendo’s well-known plumber and the representative said, ”No, it’s always been that way.”
