Information Update - Nintendo 3DS


1.- A forum member over at NeoGaf has spotted a Wii U console at this years CES event in Las Vegas.

We already know that Nintendo plan to show the console at the event but they have also disclosed that the games we will see are the tech demos that were featured at last summers E3 event in Los Angeles.


Activision, the publisher behind the immensely popular Call of Duty franchise has justpurchased the domain name www.blackops2.com, suggesting that the company is hard at work developing a sequel to Treyarch’s well received Call of Duty: Black Ops. Expect to see plenty of footage of the game at this years E3 event in June.

2.- Popular US gaming emporium GameStop has blamed low Wii software sales and the lack of new hardware as the reasons why it this achieved less than stellar results last Christmas. The retail chain saw minimal sales gains in the nine weeks leading up to December 31, bringing in a total of $3.02 billion during the entire holiday sales period.

Netflix has finally been made available on the Wii in the United Kingdom. You can download your free one-month trial from the Wii Shopping Channel. All you need to do is go to the Wii Shopping Channel, then select the Channels menu and the Netflix option is at the top. Netflix will cost £5.99 a month, after you’ve used your free one month trial.
Capcom Japan has announced that it plans to release a couple of companion product for Resident Evil: Revelations in Japan. Capcom will firstly release a strategy guide and art book for Resident Evil: Revelations which contains 192 pages of strategies for campaign mode and includes a range of artwork featured throughout the game. Capcom will also release the Resident Evil Revelations Original Soundtrack which contains 66 tracks from the game. Capcom has yet to announce a Western release for either products.

3.- Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that work on a new Zelda game is already under way at Nintendo. Aonuma announced the new game in the HyruleHistoria but wouldn’t mention what platform it was for. We already know that Nintendo are hard at work on a new Zelda game for Wii U so it seems likely that the new game Aonuma is referring to could be for the Nintendo 3DS.

Sony’s UK marketing manager Mark Bowles has told online gaming publication MCV that the company is ready for its biggest marketing campaign ever with PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation Vita launch in February be supported by the biggest campaign Sony has ever created, and the campaign will continue to run throughout 2012.
“The PS Vita launch will be supported by the biggest campaign we’ve ever executed, and this level of activity will continue throughout 2012, reflecting our confidence in, and commitment to the platform long term.”
“Our campaign will target gamers primarily, but also the new generation of tech enthusiasts and entertainment consumers who are used to playing games on their smartphones or tablets. What sets Vita apart is its ability to deliver PS3 quality gaming, in addition to the range of globally recognised triple-A software titles, which simply isn’t possible or aren’t available on any other existing portable.”
Today at CES 2012, AT&T made the announcement that they will be making available the PlayStation Vita on February 22 in two data forms, 250MB of data for $15 a month or 2GB of data for $25 a month. It is also very important to note that these monthly data plans are not contractual, so you can cancel whenever you would like without penalty. AT&T also makes a very bold statement.

This device is going to change the gaming industry. Period.
