Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told investors and analysts that Nintendo hopes to have Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D or Animal Crossing 3D on store shelves worldwide this fiscal year.

Nintendo are hoping to sell at least 16 million Nintendo 3DS consoles within the first year. Satoru Iwata believes that the only way the company is going to do that is if it launches at least two of these three highly anticipated software titles.

“We want the other companies to be successful. In order to accomplish this goal, we would like to decide on the dates after we know the release plans of other companies’ games so that we are able to consider how we can maximize the sales of our titles without affecting the sales of other companies in the short term.”

With regard to Super Mario and Mario Kart specifically, he added: 

“However, especially for the two titles I introduced today, which are the new iterations of “Mario Kart” and “Super Mario,” I did not talk about them with the image of launching them in the next fiscal year or thereafter, so please understand it in that way.”

El presidente de Nintendo Satoru Iwata ha dicho a inversores y analistas que Nintendo espera tener Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D o Animal Crossing 3D en las tiendas de todo el mundo para el final de este año fiscal (Abril, 2.011 - Abril, 2.012)

Nintendo espera vender al menos 16,000,000 de Consolas 3DS para el primer año. Satoru Iwata cree que la única forma en la que la compañía puede conseguirlo es si se lanzan al menos 2 de estos 3 títulos.

“Queremos que las demás compañías tengan éxito. Para llegar al objetivo, nos gustaría decidir las fechas de lanzamiento una vez sepamos las fechas de lanzamiento de los juegos de otras compañías para ver como podemos maximizar nuestras ventas sin afectar a las suyas a corto plazo.”

Para referirse a Mario Kart 3DS, añadió: 

“De todas formas, especialmente para los dos títulos que he introducido hoy, que son iteraciones de "Mario Kart" y "Super Mario", no hablé de ellas con la imagen de lanzarlas el próximo año fiscal, así que, por favor, entendedlo de esa forma.”
