1.- Wondering why the Nintendo Wii U is white and not, like, fluorescent pink? Well, as Miyamoto explains, Nintendo wants to design systems that appeal to all ages. And not just in concept, but in terms of aesthetics. In his words:
More after the Break...
One of the ways that we found to best do that is to minimize the use of color. In that process we asked if we’re going to do that, what’s the best way to go? We found that rather than going all black – all white seems to have a broader appeal to people.
Expect other colors on the market soon.
2.- It was quite clearly stated that Sonic Generations is not coming to the Wii U. That’s what made this statement from Mike Hayes of SEGA so curious:
We’re doing high definition Sonics, we’re doing obviously Aliens: Colonial Marines, so you can bring them across, and that’s relatively low cost, which is good news.
…but perhaps he just picked a bad example when discussing the benefit of bringing their games to the Wii U. Still, if there’s money to be made Sonic will hit the system.
3.- Ubisoft will be the company with the most games available on the Wii U at the launch of new system sometime next year. That’s just how they roll. They’re working on unique content such as Killer Freaks from Outer Space. They also have another game in development, but they’re keeping it under wraps for the time being.
Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft has said that “We will announce one game that we want to launch day one that is a new type of game, which should be interesting.”
4.- Just like Ubisoft, Electronic Arts is not afraid to put out a bunch of content at the launch of a new system to take advantage of gamers desperate for content. It’s meant to be so easy to port games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 that, although all the games we get may not be new, as least they’ll probably be stable versions of titles that haven’t been on Nintendo systems before.
But yeah, that’s a long-winded introduction to this quote from Frank Gibeau of EA:
Getting in early is partly about being a successful transition company and figuring out where the hardware is going to go. With the Wii U it’s important for us to get there on day one so we can get in and build as big an audience as possible.
5.- Both Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto turned down suggestions from Nintendo of America to do a Zelda collectors pack to celebrate the franchises 25th anniversary. Miyamoto and Iwata both agreed that another collectors pack ‘wasn’t the Nintendo way’ and subsequently refused Nintendo of America’s suggestion to do a special package for fans.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has described how Shigeru Miyamoto originally wanted to make The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a first person game. Initially Miyamoto wanted to remove the Link character model from the screen altogether and just have the game playable as a FPS. Later into the games development Miyamoto decided against the idea, as he claims it “wasn’t interesting visually”.

Noticias Nuevas - Nintendo Wii U
