Information Update - Nintendo Wii U

1.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed to investors that the company will announce the pricing and the release date for the Wii U next year.
More After the Break...

We already know the system won’t launch until after April 2012 but it sounds as if we’ve got a while to wait to find out the actual release date and pricing for the console.

“Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles, we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals.”

2.- Masahiro Sakurai, the game designer behind Smash Bros and Kid Icarus: Uprising is adamant that the forthcoming Smash Bros game for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be a vast improvement over its predecessor Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii.

“There are many things that can be improved upon even in Brawl. Also, I think you can base your expectations of the new Smash Bros. once you see how well-made Kid Icarus is. The director of each game is the same, but because I regularly change my team around after projects, we will be able to see how good the team is then.”
However he wouldn’t be drawn on which Nintendo characters should be included on the roster this time. “That is completely undecided, but it is true that Nintendo has not created many new characters lately.”

3.- Casey Hudson of BioWare has referred to the Wii U as “an interesting system,” but remains ambivalent about what can be done with it. He explains that:

One of the challenges and opportunities with that kind of device is that it takes a while to really figure out what the amazing forms of gameplay will be – but it also has enough flexibility to potentially do things that are totally unprecedented in games.
4.- FIFA is coming to the Wii U. I really don't like the game, but I guess that was obvious though, as FIFA comes to everything.
But anyway, David Rutter, the producer of the FIFA games has said that he has “a few ideas about how Wii U will benefit FIFA.” He also explained that:

It’s certainly an exciting opportunity as far as hardware is concerned. It’s a pretty cool piece of kit. I’m looking forward to getting involved with it in some way, shape or form.

Noticias Nuevas - Nintendo Wii U
