Information Update - Nintendo Wii U

1.- 01net, the site that broke the news of a second Circle Pad for the Nintendo 3DS is now claiming that Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console is ‘stuck in development hell’.
More After the Break...

According an insider for the French site the Wii U tablet controllers Nintendo supplied to developers still don’t work properly leaving many developers frustrated.
“According to our source, it seems that the final architecture has been rushed through the door, with undesirable consequences.”
Those consequences allegedly include “inadequate” streaming and wireless functionality integral to the Wii U’s innovative design, the source continues, and speculation that the console’s main chip set “may be a tad too cheap.”
“So far, the wireless functions simply do not work at all,” it continues, claiming that as a result, developers are working with a tethered controller which apparently “still does not work properly”.
“Many developers are feeling lost, their progress impeded by a distinct lack of visibility, their working hours by the quasi-paced daily software updates.”

Details and images of an exclusive new game for Wii U. The tipster didn’t mention the name of the game, only that the game was initially developed by a Swiss studio, this was closed and the IP was purchased by Nintendo.

The game is apparently exclusive to Wii U and is being developed by a studio in Europe.

2.- Marvelous Entertainment producer Tomio Kanazawa recently took some time out to speak to online gaming publication Siliconera about the company and its plans for Wii U.

Kanazawa mentioned that he was extremely excited about Wii U but he also said that he’s unsure how much resources the company is going to devote to the console.
“For Wii U, we think it will be appreciated by casual and family gamers. We are looking forward to hearing how much it will target core gamers, as well. While we are planning titles for Wii U, in terms of how much we’re going to commit to it, we’re still thinking about that.”

3.- Japanese magazine Shounen Jump has provided gamers with some additional detailsabout the recently revealed Dragon Quest X.

Apparently the game will be referred to as Dragon Quest Online rather than Dragon Quest X. The game also features six races: Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, Pukuripo, Wedi and human.
Players are tasked with solving a mystery involving the human world. The main area is called is called Astoldia, which is split into four continents: Ogleed, Eltona, Dwachakka, Pukuland, and one island chain, Wena Islands. The game is developed by Square Enix and is due out next year for Wii and later for Wii U.

Square Enix has confirmed that they'll be showing off more of Dragon Quest X at the Tokyo Game Show. Expect this to be footage from the Wii version, rather than the Wii U version with improved graphics, but either way, it's still nice that they're providing plenty of content to consume.

4.- Nintendo UK has announced that its working on the stock shortages surroundingXenoblade Chronicles. Numerous retailers such as Amazon, Asda and Game have reported that they’ve run out of stock. Nintendo hopes to replenish stock as soon as possible. Let’s hope Nintendo of America takes notice.

“We are doing everything we can to get more stock of Xenoblade Chronicles into UK shops this autumn. We know how frustrating stock shortages can be for people, and we are disappointed when even one customer cannot get hold of one of our products.”

5.- Nintendo America has announced a new Metallic Rose coloured Nintendo DSi XL. The Metallic Rose is apparently an eye-catching shade of pink with a luminous modern sheen. The console will go on sale in the United States on September 18th and is priced at $169.99.

6.- Fancy checking out Kirby Mass Attack before the game makes its debut on September 16th in the US? Well, you can now do so thanks to the Nintendo Channel. All you’ll need to do is turn on your Wii and go to the Nintendo Channel. I presume this is just for the US as the game doesn’t launch in Europe until October 28th.
