Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at the 39th International Emmys on Monday night. She presented the International Emmy Founders Award to Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer of “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”

“He has always helped to nurture and foster my ideas, no matter how crazy or demographic-unfriendly they may have been,” said Gaga. “He always spoke poetically about the pursuit of widening the boundaries of love and acceptance in TV.”

Maureen Callaghan, author of Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga, recently revealed that Gaga’s father, Joe Germanotta, gets 50% of her earnings.

Gaga’s relationship with her father only grows stronger; with this news coming out, it shows. ”I’m married to my dad,” Gaga said in an interview for Elle magazine. But what made their relationship grow stronger?

“Their relationship definitely improved as she made money. That helped substantially. I don’t know that it’s healthy. As soon as she started earning money, he said something to her like, ‘What man wouldn’t want you now that you’re becoming successful?’” – Unnamed source told National Post.

Whether her father is in it for the money or not, it is still so sweet that she does this for her father.
