1.- French publication Gamekyo are reporting that Nintendo will be unlocking a second core for Nintendo 3DS developers to play around with.
More After the Break...
Apparently developers will soon be able to take advantage of 25% additional power that was previously reserved for the Nintendo 3DS operating system.
2.- Nintendo of America has uploaded a new launch trailer for Super Mario 3D Land. The video shows off numerous stages scattered throughout the game and a few of Mario’s power-ups. Super Mario 3D Land comes out November 18th in Europe and November 13th in North America.
3.- Eiji Aonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has revealed to The Guardian that the Zelda team had a bunch of interesting ideas that didn’t make it into the final version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword but may used in Zelda Wii U.
Eiji Aonuma of Nintendo has referred to the demo of Zelda for the Wii U at E3 as a "starting point", explaining that:“We had many ideas for new abilities in Skyward Sword. Some of them didn’t work and so we abandoned them. Some of them, though, we’re keeping. Even though we couldn’t make them work in this game, we felt they’re still good ideas. Maybe we can make them work on the Wii-U. It’s possible you might see them in another game we make in this series.”
You should expect many changes, because as I mentioned earlier, our starting point is the gameplay and how we can make it work. It's possible the game will look very different by the time it comes out.
The feedback that I've been getting from a lot of people on Skyward Sword is that they like the game very much, so of course I think probably the most important thing that we're focusing on right now is how do we take those elements that people seem to really love about Skyward Sword, and really bring that and connect that to what we do with Zelda on the Wii U while still continuing to evolve the game.
4.- Peter Moore of Electronic Arts has not shied away from praising the Wii U. His latest gushing though is his most intense, saying that "It's a very exciting machine and I'm glad to see it out there. I mean, a hi-def Nintendo platform! There's nothing that could make me happier."
Its online capabilities are really extensive, too, so we'll be able to differentiate ourselves from the competition more easily with our sports lineup. We can't announce anything yet, but what I can say is that Nintendo is a company that's been producing new types of play culture for years.
Let's hope this is more than just talk to indirectly hype up the games Electronic Arts will have available at the launch of the system.
5.- Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told Brazilian website UOL Jogos that the company has learnt important lessons from the Nintendo 3DS launch and promises a strong line-up of games when it launches Wii U sometime after April 2012.
“In terms of lessons learned, we need to ensure we have a strong line-up of games when we release hardware – especially titles from Nintendo. Looking back, maybe we did not have the best lineup of games on 3DS.”
“And that’s why sales were not so good, which forced us to make some drastic decisions and reduce the price.”
“Since we did it… our sales have been very good. And we have high expectations for the 3DS this Christmas.”
Considering all the doom and gloom surrounding Nintendo, here's some positive thoughts from Jesse Divnich, an industry analyst with EEDAR:
I am not too concerned for Nintendo. Nintendo has consistently delivered high-quality products and I think we owe them the benefit of the doubt that they can once again retain the crown in profitability and hardware sales. They’ve stumbled before with the Virtual Boy and the Gamecube, and have easily bounced back with their next release.
But that said...
There are a lot of sunk R&D costs that really drive down profits right before a console launch. I believe this loss is a combination of the poor 3DS sales and the costs Nintendo is currently occurring with the Wii-U development. It does put a lot of pressure, however, on the Wii-U since Nintendo has never had two hardware products perform below expectations consecutively.
6.- Walmart has informed customers precisely which items are going to be discounted on Black Friday in the United States.
Tecmo Koei the publisher behind Team Ninja’s ultra violent Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edgehas announced that the game will be a launch title for the Wii U. Ninja Gaiden 3 is due for release February 4th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
