More After the Break...
- Nintendo sold more than 675,000 combined hardware units in October. This includes more than 250,000 units of Nintendo 3DS, nearly 250,000 Wii systems and nearly 180,000 units of the Nintendo DS family of systems.
- For the year, Nintendo has sold a combined 7 million hardware units and more than 55 million units of software have been sold for Nintendo platforms. Both of these numbers should increase with the Nov. 20 launch of The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword for Wii.
- Both Wii, up 8 percent year over year, and Nintendo DS, up 23 percent over the previous month, demonstrated strong momentum heading into their respective sixth and eighth holiday seasons. In total, the two platforms have sold more than 87 million combined hardware units and more than 540 million combined units of software in the United States.
2.- We’re hearing that the 3DS may receive a 25% power boost through Nintendo providing the ability for developers to make use of the core of the CPU dedicated to the wireless options.
This would result in those wireless options being impacted though, possibly to the point that you would not be able to have your system connected to the internet while playing a game that takes advantage of this option. Remember, this is only a rumor, but either way, do you think that would be a fair trade off? Would you prefer a game to have access to 25% more power rather than any wireless functionality?
3.- EB Games has announced that the limited edition 3DS made for the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zeldawill be coming to Australia on the 1st of December.
The bundle will retail for $249 but will not include a copy ofThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. It will also be only available through EB Games. There’s no word on a release in other regions.
“Well, thanks to the hard work of the designers, the island in the sky, named Skyloft, gradually came together,” said Aonuma during the latest Iwata Asks discussion. “This time, Link is going to the Knight Academy and is living in the dormitory. It’s a somewhat elaborate setting, so I wasn’t sure it would be all right, but when it had come together somewhat, I had Iwamoto-san show me the game from the beginning. And to be honest, it was no good at all!
“I could see that if it hadn’t come together to a certain extent by that point, when Miyamoto-san came in, he would be like, “What have you been doing all this time?!” I was worried.
“So the situation was coming to a boil. But even when I said, “Get on top of that!” there wasn’t anyone to do so, so I was like, “Then I’ll do it myself!”
