Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii and Super Mario 3D Land have both entered the UK all-formats chart at number seven and nine respectively.
More After the Break...

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games 2012 also entered the charts at number 20 for the week ending November 19th. I would expect all three titles to chart higher next week.

A huge number of Mario Kart 7 Vids show the FULL Star, Leaf, Lightning & Special Cups:

According to GoNintendo a number of Nintendo 3DS users have already been sent a notification message via SpotPass to tell them that their Gameboy Advance game will be available to download shortly. Basically keep an eye out for a SpotPass notification which is currently being rolled out to all users that are eligible for the Ambassador Program.

A commercial airing in the United Kingdom has supposedly revealed that the 3DS firmware update will be coming on the 30th of November. Given that the update was scheduled for late November, this would not be surprising, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Nintendo Europe has announced that Metroid II will be appearing on the Virtual Console section of the Nintendo 3DS eShop this Thursday and will be priced at £3.60/€4.00. Nintendo of America has yet to announce when the game is coming to North America.

2.- Nintendo of America has announced two limited edition Nintendo 3DS bundles. The first bundle includes Super Mario 3D Land and a Flame Red Nintendo 3DS system.

The second bundle includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D game and the special 25th anniversary limited-edition Black Nintendo 3DS system. Each bundle will be available at a suggested retail price of $199.99 in the U.S and will be released November 24th.

3.- An apparent source within Electronic Arts has suggested that the company may be working with Nintendo to bring EA Origin to the Wii U. This is what the source said:

Many publishers are happy with Xbox Live’s features, but they aren’t happy with how strict Microsoft’s guidelines are. Nintendo went with an open flexible approach with online because when Nintendo asked developers/publishers what they wanted in an online service, that was the number one thing they asked for.

This would make sense based on Peter Moore's enthusiasm and Reggie Fils-Aime insistence on a flexible online system, but of course must be relegated to a rumor for the time being.

Apparently, Valve is interested in bringing Steam to the platform as well, but Electronic Arts is:
...aggressively persuading Nintendo to go Origin-exclusive with Wii U’s online so they can gain a competitive advantage over Steam.
If any of this is true, it's certainly interesting. Let's hope there's some weight to it.

4.- Square Enix has launched the teaser site for Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland 3D. The game will allow for local wireless, Wi-Fi and SpotPass communication and will also make an appearance at the Jump Festa event in Japan, so we should have more details then. You can click here to access the teaser site.

French site WiiZ has revealed that the hit Nintendo DS game Zoo Keeper is coming to the Nintendo 3DS early next year. Zoo Keeper 3D for the Nintendo 3DS is billed as an action puzzle game and will be released in Japan on the 26th of January 2012. It hasn’t been revealed whether the game is a eShop title or a standard 3DS retail game.

5.- Sony’s announced that Vodafone has been selected as the “preferred partner” for Playstation Vita’s 3G services in Europe.

UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands, as well as “Vodafone’s Partners in France,” will be the countries initially part of the offer.

3G units of Vita will come with a Vodafone sim card, with consumers able to pick up their model via Vodafone stores or online. Those who buy with the company will get a free download code for Wipeout 2048.

Ridge Racer for PlayStation Vita is one of the launch game’s that will accompany the system in Japan, and Namco Bandai have released a trailer for it today.

6.- Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is confirmed as a launch title for the Wii U. You can click here to find a new batch of screenshots from the game.

Killer Freaks from Outer Space from Ubisoft is one of the known exclusives for the Wii U. Many people have remarked that the enemies within the game are similar to the Rabbids that have starred in many of Ubisoft's other titles. This is no coincidence as Rabbids were, at some point, within the game but were removed once Ubisoft realised the targeting wasn't right. Probably because this game is meant to be violent, bloody, and "hardcore", while Rabbids embody the exact opposite of all of that.

It has also been mentioned the game was originally proposed for the Xbox 360 and PS3. We're not sure exactly why it made the leap to the Wii U, but an exclusive is always a good thing to have either way.
