1.- Nintendo has announced that the 3DS firmware update that was supposed to be released sometime this month has actually been delayed.
More After the Break...
The firmware update which brings video recording to the Nintendo 3DS along with a few additional extras is now scheduled to be released on December 8th. Here’s some of the features you can expect to see in the update:
- 3D movie capture and playback functionality added to the 3DS Camera program

2.- Nintendo Europe has put up a listing for Luigi’s Mansion 2 which includes plenty of details regarding what players should expect from the game.
The interesting thing about it is thatthey’ve listed the game as a one to two players but they don’t provide any more specific details other than that. Would would you like to see from a two player Luigi’s Mansion?
We already know that the Wii was phenomenally successful during Black Friday but what we didn’t know is Wal-Mart lost money on every console they sold. According to Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime Wal-Mart lost money on every limited edition Blue Wii it sold for less than $100 while Nintendo didn’t lose a cent.
“Wal-Mart lost money on every Wii they sold. We did not lose money on it”
3.- Popular online gaming publication Destructoid has decided to award Mario Kart 7 an extremely disappointing five out of ten. Jim Sterling who reviewed that game states that the series needs a severe shake-up and labels the game lethargic and mundane. Thankfullyother publications don’t share Jim’s borderline trolling opinions.
Mario Kart 7 is as derivative as a game can get, and while we pour scorn on so many other games for rehashing themselves, something tells me this will get a free pass from many critics and gamers. That strikes me as ironic since Mario Kart 7 is the one game I’d hold up as the least deserving of any kind of leniency. It being an unadventurous and predictable retread, however, is only half of Mario Kart 7‘s problem. The other half is the fact that it’s a lethargic and mundane game, easily outpaced by games that could be considered knock-offs of the formula Nintendo itself perfected.
4.- Vigil, the development team behind Darksiders 2 have stated that the Wii U is easy to develop for. The team say that the ease of development on Wii U is similar to that of the Xbox 360 which is renowned as being a simple console to develop for. Great news for those developers looking to bring their projects to Wii U.
“From a pure programmer point of view, it’s definitely a lot easier than, say, the PS3 was. It’s probably on par with 360 as far as ease of API, simplicity of how you interact with the hardware.”
“[On Wii U] we were literally finding things and telling Nintendo about them. ‘Hey how does this work?’ ‘Well, I don’t know.’ So we were finding the solutions ourselves sometimes. It was kind of like a new frontier.”
5.- Youtube user Inutile87 has posted an unboxing video of the super-cool Blue Wii which was recently released.
There are even more screenshots and artwork from Monster Hunter Tri G that show off weapons in the game and you can check them all out after the break.
Nintendo has announced that it’s giving Pokémon fans another chance to claim Victini as their own from December 3rd – 31st. This will be a level 50 Victini with Fusion Flare and Fusion Bolt, which are Reshiram and Zekrom’s signature moves.
6.- Square Enix’s Ryutaro Ichimura has told Famitsu that he has finally ‘graduated’ from the Dragon Quest team and is busy working on a number of titles including a possible next generation RPG. Depending on the timing, they may release the game for next generation consoles which could include Wii U which comes out sometime after April 2012.
Famitsu has shown off some pieces of concept art which include buildings that appear to be out of middle ages Europe, and middle ages European style characters. Although the game may appear Westernised the developers are trying to make the game appeal to everyone. What sort of RPG would you like from Square Enix on Wii U?
7.- PlayStation Vita's early 2012 lineup is slowly filling up. Joining the February 9 release date for Acquire's Sumioni, we have a general time frame of February 2012 for the Vita version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, officially titled Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. Weekly Famitsu reveals the time frame and a price of ¥6090 for the game's retail version.
