Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Last year Shigeru Miyamoto mentioned in an interview that he would like to see Retro Studios develop a new addition to the Zelda franchise, while this was just an idea, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has told IGN that working with other developers is something the Zelda team at Nintendo is learning to embrace.
More After the Break...
“Nintendo’s developers will continue to work on a number of different titles, and I think that we will have to rely on outside companies for graphics and other elements that require massive resources,” Aonuma said, specifically addressing the idea of future partnerships. “I’m satisfied when the cooperation between Nintendo and other companies becomes something meaningful for both parties.”

Level 5 has yet to announce a Western release for the game, but it will probably be a while before we hear one. Here’s some key information about Guild 01:

Guild 01 is a collection of four unique titles from four different creators. Grasshopper Manufacture’s Suda 51 is working on Liberation Girl, a shooter. Seaman creator Yoot Saito is working on Air Porter, an airport management simulation. Tactics series creator Yasumi Matsuno is working on Crimson Shroud, a traditional tabletalk style RPG. Finally, comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai is working on Rental Weapon Shop, a fantasy RPG where you play as the owner of an RPG weapon shop.

3.- Mesut from Nintendomination has uploaded footage from the latest Bravely Default: Flying Fairy demo which has gone live in Japan. Bravely Default is exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS and is produced by RPG powerhouse Square Enix. The game is due for release sometime later this year, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for a demo.
Nintendo Europe has issued a press release which states that this March is set to be the biggest month ever for Virtual Console as Nintendo announces a bumper crop of classic games set to launch via the Nintendo eShop and Wii Shop Channel. Here’s the full details:

The month of March heralds a wide range of interesting games to download including a chance to replay where it all began for Samus Aran when the original Metroid from the NES becomes available to download on your Nintendo 3DS. Those of you who are looking forward to the upcoming release of Kid Icarus™: Uprising can download the Game Boy title, Kid Icarus™ Of Myths and Monsters allowing Nintendo 3DS owners to become better acquainted with the angelic angel Pit and his action-packed adventures!
Dust off your stethoscope and get ready for some pill arranging action with the classic Game Boy puzzler Dr Mario™, finally arriving to the Nintendo eShop. March will also see the long awaited arrival of the classic SEGA Game Gear line-up including Dragon Crystal™, Shinobi™ and Sonic the Hedgehog™: Triple Trouble.
Wii owners are in for a treat this month when Mega Man X and Mega Man 5 become available on Wii Virtual Console and Super Street Fighter 2 is the first Virtual Console title with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection functionality which allows fans of the legendary fighting franchise to challenge each other online. You will be treated to even more of history’s best 2D fighting and sidescrolling action in Strider and Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge respectively.
The month of Virtual Console will kick off this week with two NES classics in the form of the original Super Mario Bros.™ and Punch-Out!!™, both available via the Nintendo eShop. Mario and Luigi have been rescuing princesses and battling Bowser for over 25 years and you now have the chance to play the ultimate classic on your Nintendo 3DS.

4.- Square Enix has announced that it’s bringing out a limited edition Dragon Quest Monsters 3D themed Nintendo 3DS console in Japan. To celebrate the game’s May 31st release Square Enix will offer a Special Pack that includes an original designed 3DS system which will be priced at ¥24,980. There’s still no word as to when the game is coming to the West.
Troubled UK retail outlet GAME has announced that it won’t be stocking Mario Party 9. The previously popular retail chain also revealed that it won’t be stocking Bioware’s forthcoming Mass Effect 3. GAME previously pulled The Last Story from sale at the very last-minute which resulted in an array of disgruntled customers.
As promised Nintendo delivered the life-sized Mario Kart, which was created by West Coast Customs, to Nathanial Stehley, the lucky winner of GameStop’s Epic Reward Giveaway. Stehley was given the keys to the spectacular vehicle by representatives of Nintendo of America and GameStop.
It has been revealed that Nintendo has blocked the release of the immensely popular The Binding of Isaac on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy designer Edmund McMillen has stated that the decision by Nintendo came ”after a long internal debate”. Nintendo decided to block the game due to its ”questionable religious content”.
“Attention: After a long internal debate Nintendo has decided NOT to allow the Binding of Isaac on the 3ds. :(“
“As many assumed the reasons were due to the games ‘questionable religious content’,” he added. “Thank GOD Steam exists!”

5.- Mistwalker, the famed development studio behind The Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and more recently The Last Story, has revealed to Siliconera that the team is working on several projects. We already know that Mistwalker has three projects in the works for iOS, but let’s hope some of these ‘other projects’ involve either the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS.

“We are working on several projects. We appreciate your interest.”

Square Enix has updated the official site for Kingdom Hearts 3D and there’s plenty to check out including screenshots from the Tron Legacy world, character art, and a new wallpaper for you to download. You can click here to check it out.

There are six augmented reality cards included with Kid Icarus: Uprising. These allow you to create mock battles between any two characters. So, if you want Pit and Medusa to battle it out on your kitchen table, you can make that happen. It’s not as exciting as you might imagine though. Still, Siliconera is reporting that there will be hundreds of cards available over the coming months, and apparently Nintendo will be holding events to allow gamers to “trade, share and acquire new cards”, so that should be interesting.
Nintendo has announced that there will be lots of new releases for the 3DS Virtual Console in Europe during the month of March. According to the press release they sent out, some of the titles that will make their debut on the Virtual Console service include:
