Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Amazon has uploaded the North American box-art for The Last Story. You’ll notice that the North American box-art looks similar to the European box-art, but comes with the XSeed logo plastered in the bottom right hand corner. The box-art isn’t final, and could change.

Nintendo of America has revealed the treats it has in-store for North American Nintendo 3DS owners. You’ll be able to grab the original Metroid from the Nintendo Entertainment System as well as a playable demo for Sega’s Crush 3D. As I mentioned earlier, European Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to get their hands on Punch-Out!! and Super Mario Bros. There will also be a playable European demo for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Nintendo Europe and Nintendo UK have announced that the legendary Super Mario Brosand Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Entertainment System are now available to download on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

An unnamed source at Wii U Daily has told the publication that Wii U will retail for $299.99 when it arrives in North America sometime after E3 this year. Nintendo will apparently price the Wii U at $299 in the US, 299 Euro’s in Europe, and 20,000 Yen in Japan. Nintendo has previously stated that they will try to keep the pricing in-line with both the Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.

2.- Well, it looks as though the rumours are correct as Assassins Creed 3 will be set in the American Revolution. There’s scarcely any details regarding the game, but Ubisoft has always maintained that Assassins Creed will be coming to Wii U. Ubisoft will apparently be revealing more exciting details about Assassins Creed 3 on March 5th.

Nintendo has announced that a whole host of new Nintendo 3DS bundles are headed to Japan including a brand new colour which is described as Cobalt Blue. The Cobalt Blue Nintendo 3DS will be released on March 22nd for 15,000 yen.
Nintendo also announced that a Monster Hunter Tri G Hunter Nintendo 3DS console (which is available to purchase in either black or red) will be released on March 17th for 19,800 yen.Nintendo will also be releasing a Super Mario 3D Land Nintendo 3DS bundle (which is available in either white or pink) on March 24 for 19,800 yen. This will include a free copy of the original Super Mario Bros.Lastly, Nintendo also announced that they’re bringing out a limited edition Fire Emblem: Awakening Nintendo 3DS bundle on April 19th for 19,800 yen. The bundle includes a 1,000 yen Fire Emblem point card for DLC.

3.- Nintendo has revealed to Siliconera that there will be hundred of Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards available. Nintendo wouldn’t reveal exactly how gamers will get hold of the AR cards, but presumably they will be distributed online. Kid Icarus: Uprising launches on Nintendo 3DS on March 23rd and comes bundled with a free stand. The game also includessix random augmented reality cards for you to battle with.
Killer Freaks from Outer Space was one of the first games announced for the Wii U. And, in an amusing anecdote, Guillaume Brunier shared that they:

...worked with the early Wii U dev kits before E3, but even we hadn’t seen the actual device until a day before the show. So, they were working with a controller that would have worked in a similar way, or something like that.

But it still amuses me that it was so last-minute to see the hardware they were building the game for. You can click here to watch footage from the demo they showed during E3.

There is a new trailer for Ghost Recon Online that you can find after the break. Enjoy.

Tommy Refenes of Team Meat, the makers of Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac (which wasrejected for release on the 3DS via the eShop), has shared that "If we can in the future, we’d like our next game to be on Wii U as well as everything else."

And while we may not receive exclusive content from them, they are talented developers, so it'd be nice to see their work on the Wii U.

4.- Hugues Ricour, a senior producer for Ghost Recon Online on the Wii U has said that touchscreen controller has "resonated" with them, and compared it to the "actual physical device that elite forces around the world carry with them to give them a tactical advantage".

He also said:

With Ghost Recon Online Wii U, it’s not just tactical, but also tactile – the Cross Com and its entire arsenal of cool new tech are now literally at your fingertips. Through the touch pad, our fans will always be connected at home with their social network and with the activities happening in the game. It’s always on, even if your TV is off.

This is definitely a game perfect for the Wii U's controller. Anything tactical, I'd say, is going to be amazing with the integration of the touchscreen.
A former journalist from France is suggesting that, based on what he's heard, the Wii U is twice as powerful as an Xbox 360. This is consistent with things we've heard in the past, but it also contradicts other things we've heard. In other words, treat everything with a grain of salt.

What's odd is that apparently a "very famous engine" (most likely Unreal Engine 3) shows only a minor frame-rate improvement over the Xbox 360 and PS3. This doesn't make much sense if the platform is meant to be twice as powerful, but it's a rumor, so maybe it's all nothing.

Club Nintendo in North America has been updated with Mario’s Picross for the Virtual Console on the 3DS, which can be downloaded for 100 Club Nintendo coins. The other reward is Radar Mission, which also costs 100 coins. The games will only be available until the 31st of March.

Metroid for the NES has arrived on the eShop in North America, so it can be purchased by those who didn’t get it in the Ambassador Program. The update for the game can also be downloaded if you already have it. There is also a demo available for CRUSH3D. In Europe, Super Mario Bros. and Punch Out for the NES are available, along with a demo for Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The website for the mystery project from SEGA, Capcom and Namco Bandai has been updated with three mysterious pictures that you can find after the break. The theory is that these pictures correlate to minimalist art for famous characters from each company, shown here:

There’s suggestions that Leon, Chris, Zero, Bayonetta are all represented within this art. Are there any other characters that you see?
