Information Update - Nintendo 3DS
1.- Ubisoft has revealed that the seasonal system in Assassins Creed 3 will most certainly affect how you play the game. For instance, when its been snowing heavily the roads and paths will become treacherous, which means the lead character Connor will have an advantage as he races through the trees to assassinate his next target.

Popular US store Walmart is considering acquiring doomed retail store GAME, that’s according to MCV. Investors believe that Walmart is currently prepared to offer 12p per share to buyout the GAME Group. MCV also reported that Comet owner OpCapita has offered a buyout bid that the GAME board is currently evaluating. Nintendo revealed earlier today that Kid Icarus: Uprising won’t be sold at either GAME or GameStation.

“But I’m also interested in the challenge of doing something completely new with the 3D Sonic’s forward view platform action, and bring something new to the table with that as well.”
“I don’t think Sonic will ever become photo-real. I think Sonic will always remain stylised and will have that bright, colourful world. What the high hardware spec will allow us to do is make that more convincing.”
“I feel Sonic is the right fit because it is that kind of family experience game. I do feel Wii U is applicable to Sonic. But how we will apply using the controller to Sonic is something we’re still thinking about at the moment.”
2.- This weeks Media Create sales figures are in from Japan and they once again show that the Nintendo 3DS is the dominant hardware in the Land of the Rising Sun. Tetsuya Nomura has told Famitsu that he expects the majority of players will finish Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance in roughly 35 hours, though he states that play time will be extended if players participate in the game’s character raising component and mini games. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is coming to North America and Europe sometime later this year.
3.- Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia believes that Rockstar’s highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V is likely to launch early next year, and that a Wii U SKU is more than likely. A lot of people were hoping that Grand Theft Auto V would launch later this year, but Bhatia is confident it will launch in the fourth fiscal quarter for Take-Two, which ends March 2013.

The wait is over. Twenty-five years after the launch of the original Kid Icarus series for NES, Pit is back in Kid Icarus: Uprising exclusively on Nintendo 3DS, available to preorder from Amazon.co.uk , GameStop Littlewoods.com, Play.com and zavvi.co.uk now!
From Friday 23rd March, Kid Icarus: Uprising will be available to buy on the high street via Argos, Asda, Blockbuster, Tesco, Dixons Stores Group, GameStop, HMV, Sainsbury’s, Smyths Toys, Toys R Us or online at Amazon, The Hut, JohnLewis.com, Littlewoods.com, Play.com, zavvi.co.uk , and as well as most good games retailers.
Nintendo of Japan has uploaded a six-minute Fire Emblem Awakening overview trailer for the Nintendo 3DS to the Minna no Nintendo Channel. The trailer shows off gameplay footage and also reiterates that there will be paid DLC and also classic Fire Emblem characters, and rare items, which will be distributed through Spot Pass. Fire Emblem Awakening is coming to Europe this year.
4.- Patrick Soderlund, head of EA Games label has told Venture Beat that the company is pursuing the idea of introducing subscription based services for some of its forthcoming games. Activision has already attempted something similar with Call of Duty Elite, and EA games could follow the same path.
“I think it’s fair to say that we’re looking at that. Like all other companies, we’re looking at how we can maximise our investment in this and get the most out of our investment and get more people playing this product. That may take us to different places, but we’re not really talking about where that is yet.”Capcom’s SVP of planning and business development Christian Svensson recently took the time out to speak to Game Informer about a number of Capcom related issues. Svensson tried his best to address the infamous Resident Evil Revelations spelling mistake, and also spoke about the possibility of bringing Ace Attorney Investigations 2 to the West.

So Capcom has had some spelling errors pop up recently. Of course everyone remembers the Resident Evil: Revelations typo. Then there was an error on the Asura’s Wrath promotional box. Capcom also misspelled the name of the company in the Steel Battalion trailer. What’s going on here? How does this keep happening?
For Resident Evil: Revelations, I can’t even tell you how many people looked at that package and approved it. Nintendo of America, Nintendo Japan, ESRB, I don’t know how many people internally, and our guys in Japan. I can’t come up with an excuse for it. It just happened. We’re not happy about it.
There are new processes that were put in place that involve people outside the company. We’ve redefined who has final say over packaging. I’m cautiously optimistic we won’t be seeing this happen again. It’s embarrassing. I can’t really sugarcoat it.
There are only about 90,000 units that have the misprint. If you’ve got it and it’s shrink-wrapped, that’s a new special edition, that’s our new strategy. [laughs]
Should we assume we’re not getting Ace Attorney Investigations 2 here in the U.S.?
It is still an open discussion point. I’ll never say never, but I also won’t say it’s going to happen. I haven’t let go of that bone, and I hope the fans are still patient with us.
5.- The rumour about Sonic Dimensions on the Wii U may have been a hoax, but Takashi Iizuka, the producer of Sonic, believes the franchise is a “perfect fit” for the system. He also seemed confident in the potential of the platform, sharing that:
The Wii was an extremely successful platform. It was totally global. It went into the families that maybe would not have picked up a home console before. It created that living room experience with families, and it had great success. Now, adding the controller, and in a sense upgrading the Wii, it has got potential to further that and increase its customer base.
There’s not a lot we know about when the Wii U will be released. We do know the system will be available in the last half of 2012. But seeing as that’s a period of six months, it’s not that helpful. It is possible, however, to narrow it down with good ol’ fashioned logic. (Or at least, what feels like logic to me.)
Nintendo confirmed that you cannot buy the augmented reality cards for use with Kid Icarus: Uprising. They have to be received in magazines or collected at events. With that in mind though, they’ve shared that you’ll be able to get a few cards from the following places:
- By buying the game at the Nintendo World store in New York City on the 23rd of March.
- At a special event in select GameStop locations on the 14th of April.
- The April issue of Nintendo Power and the @Gamer in-store Best Buy magazine.
- The Nintendo booth in WonderCon taking place in Anaheim, California.
- The Nintendo booth at PAX East in Boston
Nintendo of Europe also revealed you’ll be able to order two packs of six augmented reality cards each from Club Nintendo for a total of 250 Stars. There’s also a new video showing off the control methods in the game that you can check out after the break.
