1.- Microsoft sources have told Bloomberg that the company has no plans to show off their successor to the Xbox 360 this year in an effort to combat the Wii U. Microsoft will release its next Xbox sometime next year with a possible reveal at E3 2013 in June. If this turns out to be true then it will give Nintendo roughly a years head-start with Wii U.

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) will release the next version of its Xbox console in 2013 at the earliest, as the company squeezes at least one more year of sales out of its current model, said two people with knowledge of the matter.
The company may show the successor to its Xbox 360 at next year’s E3 conference in June 2013 and put it on sale that same year, said the people, who declined to be named because the plans are confidential.
It’s pretty much confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Activision now says that its subscription based Elite package will form an integral part of the game. Undoubtedly Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be heading to Wii U this Fall, so expect Activision to try to furiously promote its subscription based package to all Nintendo fans, in a desperate attempt to capitalize on the immensely popular franchise.

“All we’re really saying about it at this point is integration is the word of the day. It needs to be in the game. It needs to be tightly wrapped with game features. And that’s our focal point. We’ll be back at some point to talk about that game, and when we do, we’ll reveal a lot more. Long term, we’re making Elite and the game synonymous. If you want to play solo or single-player, you might never notice Elite. But the moment you dip your toe into multiplayer, you’re part of Elite. It’s just up to you whether you take full advantage of the features or not.”
- Activision producer Noah Heller
Japanese publication My Game News Flash is reporting that Nintendo has filed a trademark for a new game titled ‘The Last Ranger’ or Saigo no Youjimbou (The Last Bodyguard) in Japanese. Nintendo hasn’t hinted if this is referring to a new franchise, or an existing franchise, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Could it be related to the Pokemon Ranger series?
2.- Activision has announced that it plans to bring Transformers Prime games exclusively to Nintendo related platforms later this year. Based on the hit animated television show produced by Hasbro Studios and currently airing on The Hub television network in the U.S., the game lets fans play as their favourite Autobot characters and embark on an action-packed adventure to save the earth from the evil Megatron and his new secret weapon.
- David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing
“Hasbro Studios has done a phenomenal job with the Transformers Prime television show. We are collaborating closely with the series creators to capture all the adventure, humor and friendships from the show to create an authentic action experience for Transformers fans of all ages to enjoy.”
- David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing

3.- Nintendo of Japan is releasing the soundtrack to the perfect scoring Kid Icarus: Uprising on Club Nintendo. The Kid Icarus: Uprising soundtrack would usually go on sale for 400 points, but those who purchase the game and register it can grab the soundtrack for 250 points. Nintendo of America and Nintendo Europe have yet to announce a similar offer.

Q: We were fascinated by Nintendo’s decision to work with Team Ninja on Metroid. Looking back at the project, how do you feel about it and how Metroid: Other M was received? What lessons were learned?
Yosuke Hayashi: Other M was the first game that let us work with an external partner whose philosophy towards development is completely different to ours. This was a great chance for us to revise and rethink our approach to development, and this experience is something that is being applied in the studio.
4.- We’re three months from E3 2012, but Ubisoft has still confirmed their press conference will be on June 4th, which is the Monday before the expo itself. It’s safe to expect plenty of details about Assassin’s Creed 3, but I don’t think we’ll hear a lot about their Wii U content as the conference is before Nintendo’s conference, and I would find it strange if Ubisoft would try to steal any Wii U-centric thunder from Nintendo.
