Information Update - Nintendo 3DS
1.- Technology publication Venture Beat contacted Nintendo to find out whether or not the Kyoto based company had any plans to release Pokémon + Nobunaga’s Ambition in the West. The Nintendo representative that Venture Beat spoke to said that no announcements have been made regarding a Western release for Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition, but encouragingly they didn’t completely rule out it out either.

Japanese dungeon RPG Unchained Blade Rexx is coming to the West according to the latest edition of Nintendo Power. The game will be available as a download on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, but there could be a physical release as well. Sadly there’s no mention of a firm release date for either North America or Europe.Square Enix has released a teaser site for a new unannounced game that’s apparently due to be released in Japan during the Summer. The teaser trailer lists a number of keywords including crystal and summons (along with Odin, Titan and Diablos). We shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out what the game actually is, and what formats it is being developed for.
2.- A source apparently close to online gaming site Max Console has informed the publication what to expect from the next Nintendo 3DS firmware update which is known as 3.0.0-7x. Nintendo themselves haven’t announced the firmware update, so this is all just speculation and rumour. Here’s what the source claims will be in the next 3DS update:
Vigil games, the development studio behind the Darksiders franchise has told Game Reactor that the Wii U hardware is on par with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Many of uswere hoping that the Wii U would be slightly more powerful than either of these consoles, but it seems as though the graphical prowess behind the machine is similar to current generation consoles.
3.- The latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine confirms that the rumours were correct and there’s a brand new Mickey Mouse game coming to the Nintendo 3DS. The new game, which is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS, is titled Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. The game is being developed by Dreamrift who created the well-received Henry Hatsworth for the Nintendo DS. We should hear more information about the game in the coming months.
Joystiq has managed to get its hands on the first images of the proposed Epic Mickey: The Power of Two Wii controllers. You may remember Disney produced a Mickey themed Wii Remote when Epic Mickey launched last year, well these peripherals take things one step further. There’s a brand new version of Mickey’s paintbrush controller which doubles up as a Wii Remote, and the second contraption is Oswald’s remote device, which acts as a Wii Nunchuck. Both of these items are currently in prototype, but they should release alongside the game this Fall.

We have limitations based on Nintendo’s progress, but, you know, that really has, the only problem that’s been for us is, you know, not having an actual release date. But once we know when the Wii U has, when Nintendo has commited to a firm date, you know, we will be able to commit to a date for Darksiders II, but we’re planning on it being a launch title, and so far everything’s been smooth sailing.
We got the game running on their hardware pretty quickly, and the controller’s been great to work with, now it’s just down to deciding what we really want to do to make it a unique experience on the Wii U. You know, taking advantage of you know the extra screen and the touch capability and all that. So, you know, so we’ll have a few new feature for sure, but I think visually, for the most part, it’ll be pretty much the same.
You know, so far the hardware’s been on par with what we have with the current generation’s. Based on what I understand, the, you know, the resolution and textures and polycounts and all that stuff, we’re not going to being doing anything to uprez the game, but we’ll take advantage of the controller for sure.

“What I want people to come away with is that they’ve experienced an emotional story that they get when they watch Snow White or Toy Story.”
“Players can create experience when they play that are life-affecting as any book or movie or play.”
4.- The tablet controller for the Wii U will link to the “Animus” in Assassin’s Creed 3. This allows the player to use the second display as an on-screen map and navigation tool, and check out helpful entries in the database as they pop up on the screen without interrupting the flow of the game. There’s quick-weapon switching (including the ability to switch from dual-wielding to single-wielding and vice versa) and the ability to use the screen as a view for Eagle Vision. In this view, you control the camera with the accelerometer.
According to this post on a forum, there is a non-disclosure agreement for third-parties that ends on March 26th. This could, in theory, allow developers to talk more about their titles on the Wii U than they’ve already been doing. Reggie Fils-Aime said the news about the Wii U would continue “throughout” the year, after all, which is leaving me hopeful that this is true.
