Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Supervillian Studios has announced that the immensely popular Order Up!! is finally coming to Nintendo 3DS in North America as an eShop title. The studio has already finished development of the game on the Nintendo 3DS and they are currently busy preparing a demo of the game. Sadly there’s no release date pinned down at this precise moment in time.
More After the Break...
“[Order Up] is now coming exclusively to the 3DS eShop as a download. The retail scene is brutal unfortunately, so there have been some changes in plan.”

“I think the demo is just ASAP after Nintendo approval, and the game would follow soon after.”

- Supervillain’s CCO/Co-Founder Chris Rausch

Nintendo of America has announced that it has teamed up with some of the world’s top sports properties to deliver basketball, baseball and soccer videos to Nintendo 3DS owners in the United States. These digital collectibles can be viewed and saved in 3D, with new collectibles being delivered every week.

“Nintendo 3DS owners will now get access to their favorite sports content at thousands of Nintendo Zone locations across the country. With video highlights, weekly recaps and exclusive 3D collectible images, fans can connect with their sports passion as they carry their Nintendo 3DS.”

- Zach Fountain, Nintendo of America’s director of Strategic Partnerships

2.- Jim Reilly, the news editor for US publication Game Informer, has revealed via Twitter that Ubisoft’s E3 press conference will take place on June 4th at 3PM PST. Expect to hear plenty of Wii U related information including Assassin’s Creed 3 and the brand new entry to the Your Shape franchise for Wii U. We should also hear about other Wii U and Nintendo 3DS related projects.

Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has told Edge that he would like to make a new Legend Of Zelda game “based on, or starting from” SNES classic A Link To The Past for the Nintendo 3DS.

“I think the answer would be the same if we’re talking about just porting,” he said, “but I think I’d be even more interested in creating something new maybe based on, or starting from, A Link To The Past. I think it’s important to bring some really new software.”

“To be very honest and open, it really depends on the directors that have time at the moment as well,” he said. “Some directors, I can give them the title and I know they will do something great with it.

“Other directors I’m not so 100 per cent confident [in], so they’re the ones I’d rather take a more remake approach to the title. It really depends on that as well.”

Miyamoto was also asked by the publication why Nintendo hasn’t created a new game in the F-Zero franchise. Miyamoto claims that it wouldn’t be surprising enough on current hardware, but the Wii U could be the perfect fit.

“I think at the time it was a really big surprise, a new thing, a product that made sense,” he said. “I don’t see with current hardware how you could create a similar surprise.

“But maybe with future hardware, with Wii U coming up, maybe we could create something that does make sense, either as a smaller game, or a fully fledged title.”
EA has uploaded a brand new trailer for the forthcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The game has already been announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, but EA has neglected to mentioned whether there will be a Wii U version. Given that the game is set to be released later this year, and it’s by EA, there’s a fair chance it will come to Wii U.

Silja Gülicher, head of press at Nintendo of Germany has confirmed to Nintendo Online that the company won’t be attending this years Gamescom. Nintendo is instead focussing its attention on planning their post-E3 activities with various media partners.

“Although Gamescom is an important fair for us, we have decided not to participate this year”

“Instead, we are planning our post-E3 activities to introduce the Wii U, and the latest titles for Nintendo Wii and 3DS, to trade and media partners.

“In addition to this, we are planning to hold a series of events later this year – as part of the pan-European marketing, public relations and event activities – that will offer our fans similar opportunities.”

3.- A whole host of never seen before artwork from the Metroid franchise has been uploaded by Retro Studios artist Danny Richardson. The incredible art work contains images of Omega Metroid and a very early take on Mecha/Metal Ridely. You can check out more of the Metroid artwork here.

UK trade publication MCV has revealed that Nintendo has a new Wii game in development. The game is a new entry in Nintendo’s party game series and is titled Quiz Party. Quiz Party is a trivia game that can be played with an unlimited number of players who can take part just using one Wii Remote. The game is set to be hosted by British TV quizmaster Roy Walker, of Catchphrase fame.

“Quiz Party has been tailored specifically for the UK audience and their love of quizzes. It should be a hit with families. It’s the perfect multiplayer game for the upcoming bank holiday weekends.”

Shigeru Miyamoto has told journalists that the one non-Nintendo game he holds in high regards at the moment is Rovio’s smash hit Angry Birds. According to Miyamoto the immensely popular Angry Birds is his favourite game of the past year.

“I usually don’t comment on these sorts of questions,” Miyamoto said, before praising the Nintendo-developed audio guide for the Louvre museum which prompted his visit to the French capital. “Non-Nintendo… Angry Birds, maybe.

“What I like about Angry Birds is that it has a traditional videogame [feel] to it, but also a very creative side. And you can really feel that they’re having fun developing the game. That’s what I like about it.”

Nintendo has announced that Pokemon Black & White 2 will be arriving in Japan on June 23rd which is the same date that was posted by an online retailer in Japan. Pokemon Black & White 2 will feature two new main protagonists, though they’ve yet to be named. New gym leaders include Shizui who is water type and Homika who is poison type.

Pokemon Black & White 2′s events will take place roughly two years after the events in Pokemon Black & White and the game begins in Hiougi City. You’ll be able to register a massive 300 Pokemon in your Pokedex, and some of these Pokemon will be new to the series. Pokemon Black & White 2 will be arriving in Europe and North America in the Fall.

4.- Nintendo Korea has stated on its website that the next Nintendo Direct conference will take place on April 14th. The Nintendo Direct presentation could specifically be for Korea, as the Nintendo 3DS won’t be released there until April 28th. Hopefully we should hear something concrete from Nintendo Japan and Nintendo of America shortly.

A GameStop manager has told NinTemple that Pandora’s Tower is headed to North America. Nintendo themselves have yet to officially confirm the title for North America so for now this should be taken as a rumour. Xenoblade Chronicles has just been released in North America and The Last Story is coming in the Summer.

Famitsu magazine has revealed that the character roster for Project X Zone is not the final one. There are characters that have not been announced, including hidden characters. The character’s themselves will fight in teams such as Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter and Jill and Chris from Resident Evil. You’ll also be able to combine the character’s signature moves together.

The game is fifty-percent complete and is scheduled for release in Japan in 2012. You can check after the break for the first direct-feed screenshots and artwork from the game.
