Online retailer Amazon has announced that day one pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are ten times the pre-order numbers of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. The retailer has also revealed that pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are also 30 percent higher than Modern Warfare 3′s day one pre-order numbers. Black Ops 2 has been confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and will be released November 13, 2012. A Wii U version has been hinted at by developer Treyarch.

Shigeru Miyamoto has openly admitted that the Nintendo 3DS launched without a strong software lineup. Miyamoto says that the company would have loved to have the big hitters such as Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 at launch, but they just weren’t ready at the time.

“When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn’t have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn’t have Mario Kart 7, we didn’t have Kid Icarus: Uprising,” he explained. “We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren’t able to deliver them at that time.”

“We were kind of hoping that people would, nevertheless, buy into the product, find 3DS hardware promising; but looking back we have to say we realize the key software was missing when we launched the hardware.”

2.- Legendary games developer Shigeru Miyamoto has told Edge magazine that while the PlayStation Vita is a powerful piece of hardware, the system is struggling from the same lack of games that the Nintendo 3DS encountered last year.

“It’s obviously a very hi-spec machine, and you can do lots of things with it but I don’t really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product.”

Edge magazine has awarded Mario Tennis Open a respectable 7/10 in its latest issue. Sadly there’s no excerpts from the review, but it would be safe to assume they enjoyed the game. Edge magazine is notorious for its harsh scoring system so 7/10 is reasonably good. Mario Tennis Open is due for release May 20th in North America and May 25th in Europe.

Sega of America associate producer Matthew Hickman has listed on his online profile that he’s part of a team working on a digital game for Wii U as well as PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC. We should hopefully hear more about the unannounced digital title at E3, which takes place next month.

Never a company for refraining its words EA has taken a shot at Activision’s recently revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. After watching the trailer for Black Ops 2, EA global product manager Kevin O’Leary took to Twitter and stated ”Poor [Black Ops 2] you look tired, you should take a year off and rest.”
