Both Futureshop and Bestbuy in Canada have the game down for a 2013 release. Ubisoft Toronto have yet to confirm whether Splinter Cell: Blacklist is in development for Wii U.
“Seeing as Nintendo are paying for my hotel they currently have the lion’s share. Which, conveniently, they have also earned, for at least showing us something if not exactly new, at least different, in their next generation home console, the Nintendo Wii U. It’s not new because they showed it last year as well… they promise that it will be out this year, before Christmas, and you will want one.
“It’s the Wii on steroids – faster processor, better resolution and with delusions of grandeur that has encouraged it to grow a screen on the primary controller that not only serves as a backup, so that you can keep playing if someone else comes in and wants to watch another three days of piss-poor jubilee coverage from the BBC on the main screen, but also adds to the gameplay in some rather fun ways.”
Staying on the subject of Wii U, Ross was most impressed with Pikmin 3, “which looked absolutely gorgeous and introduced a new type of character – the rock-pikmin – and a more immersive, deep-strategy gameplay that seems to benefit from the extra screen”.
He also offered praise to Nintendo for securing Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin’s Creed 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Mass Effect 3 for Wii U.
2.- Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key confirmed that the company’s spectacular Watch Dogs will be arriving on console and PC in 2013, and could even come to Wii U. Key stated that the team is currently focussed on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions, but a Wii U version isn’t out of the question.
Epic has held true to its promise and has shown off the first footage of Unreal Engine 4 on Game Trailers. The engine is meant for next generation consoles, though Epic expects the majority of next generation consoles to initially use Unreal Engine 3. Epic has yet to confirm whether or not Wii U will run the engine.
The Swedish branch of retailer GAME is currently listing the Wii U GamePad for a fairly hefty £135. UK online retailer Shopto has already priced the Wii U console at £279. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime firmly believes that Wii U will “represent an ongoing great value” and that people will be “pleasantly surprised”
