Square Enix has announced that their upcoming Nintendo 3DS title, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, will be released in Japan on October 11th. The game will launch on the same daythat Project X Zone releases in Japan. It has not been confirmed that Bravely Default: Flying Fairy will be released in other regions.

Amazon Germany has posted what appears to be the finalised box-art for Darksiders 2 for Wii U. Of course, this could just be a mock-up created by Amazon Germany. However, the overall design matches that of Jett Tailfin Racers, which was revealed earlier this month.

Famitsu has revealed that Project X Zone will launch exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS on October 11th in Japan. The publication also revealed a number of new characters that will feature in the game. Sadly, there’s no news of a Western release for Project X Zone.

A number of reputable online retail outlets such as Amazon and GameStop are advertising Wii U games such as New Super Mario Bros U and Pikmin 3 at $100, Nintendo has clarified that these prices are completely “fictitious”.

It appears as Nintendo Europe has begun letting the press gets hands-on with the recently announced Nintendo 3DS XL. French site Puissance Nintendo managed to get some time with the device, and were incredibly impressed with what they saw. Here’s their translated impressions:
Huge screen
Better viewing angle
3D effect looks better/more effective/more natural
2D mode looks better than regular 3DS
Image looks better/softer (they assume there might be some filter but not sure)
The grip (round corners) fit nicely
Unit fits better in hands (they wonder if it should have been the main design in first place)
Unit is lighter than they expected
There’s a coat in the unit (not fully matte) that gives it a “deluxe plastic imitating metal” look
Not sure at the sound as the room was quite noisy

Last week, Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 were released in Japan and, according to Famitsu, 1.69 million units were sold on the 23rd and 24th of June. Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 are Nintendo DS games but can be played on any Nintendo 3DS console, including the forthcoming Nintendo 3DS XL. The games will be released in Europe and North America this year.

Stephen Totilo of Kotaku says that a number of developer have told him that while the Wii U will easily be able to handle ports from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the console will encounter difficulty when major third-party companies start producing games for the next Xbox and PlayStation. Totilo’s sources have told him that the next generation consoles will be about 6-8 times more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

There’s more photos of the 3DS XL that you can find after the break. They’re from here, and here.
