Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Camelot has worked on a few Mario titles, such as Mario Tennis Open, and the developer wants to work with another Nintendo character. Camelot president Hiroyuki Takahashi revealed that he wants to develop a new Donkey Kong game. Takahashi is apparently a fan of Donkey Kong 64, for the Nintendo 64, and “would love to make a sequel to it.” Should Camelot work on the Donkey Kong franchise, or should it be left for Retro Studios?

Monster Hunter 4 will be released in Japan during Spring 2013. In the meantime, the game’s publisher, Capcom, is showing off several concept art pieces regarding the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title. For more colorful pictures, head on over toCapcom’s website.

During a recent interview with IGN, Junction Point Studios’ Warren Spector mentioned that Pixar never intends to make movies that target a certain demographic or a specific audience, which inspires Spector to do the same with video games. Spector thinks that there are too many violent games, which are currently popular because consumers constantly demand them.

Spector argues that a developer’s game can be successful, even if it is different from the majority of games on the market. Spector has worked on over 20 video games, and Epic Mickey for Wii is his most successful game to date.

According to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, the feedback of Wii was “similar to that of the Wii U.” Iwata believes that the reason for this is because the Wii U, like the Wii initially, is a unique product, and “it’s difficult for people to understand it at the beginning.” Iwata mentions how people were skeptical about Wii when it first launched, because they thought Nintendo wouldn’t be able to compete with its competitors, but changed their minds when it began selling well. Iwata claims that people will eventually understand the Wii U.

New Super Mario Bros 2 will apparently cost you $39.99 if you decide to purchase the game from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. There are a number of ways you can purchase the game. You can either purchase it online, go to your favourite retailer and get a download code, or get it direct from the Nintendo 3DS eShop for $39.99.

Nintendo has announced that it will share the download numbers of New Super Mario Bros 2 when it hits the Nintendo 3DS eShop next month. The numbers will be made public so that the industry ‘can better understand’ the market. Will you be purchasing the retail copy of New Super Mario Bros 2, or the digital copy?

Pokemon Black & White 2 has once again managed to obliterate the competition as it sold an impressive 416.850 units. The Nintendo 3DS continues to be the best-selling console in Japan, although the PlayStation Vita did see another sales boost this week. Here’s the Japanese software and hardware charts.

Satoru Iwata says internet trolling regarding Wii U has a damaging effect on the company. Iwata was most likely referring to a number of unconfirmed reports that suggested that Wii U is about as powerful as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Iwata says Nintendo is powerless to stop negative campaigns on the internet, in which false opinions are deliberately posted to ruin the reputation of a product.
