Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- The Japanese version of the Nintendo 3DS XL will be sold without an AC adapter. In Japan, the 3DS AC adapter is sold separately for ¥1,500 but, to make it more affordable, Nintendo will be reducing its price to ¥1,000 starting July 12th. The North American 3DS XL will be sold with an AC adapter but, like the Japanese version, the European version will not be sold with one, so perhaps Nintendo will reduce its price in Europe as well.

David Marshall, a Nintendo customer service representative, has announced that a “unified account system will be implemented later this year with the launch of the Wii U,” and the “same account system will be made compatible with Nintendo 3DS systems.” Marshall also revealed that if your Wii U or 3DS is stolen, Nintendo can transfer your account to a new system.

“A unified account system will be implemented later this year with the launch of the Wii U. Eventually this same account system will be made compatible with Nintendo 3DS systems. At this time we have no additional details to offer and nothing to indicate how or if this will work outside the United States and Canada. In the meantime, if the system has a problem, taking it to an Authorized Service Center will maintain the Nintendo eShop account. If the system is stolen, we can transfer the account to a new system once we are provided with a valid police report.”

“Of course, you asked this question because of the upcoming launch of New Super Mario Bros. 2 in retail and digital formats. What you need to know is that the digital format will only be available in the United States and Canada. We have nothing to announce regarding Latin American availability.”

Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition will include an exclusive soundtrack filled with arguably Kirby’s best tunes. The Japanese soundtrack contains 45 tracks taken from 16 separate Kirby games, and also includes three additional tracks which were recorded specifically for Kirby’s 20th Anniversary. Here are the classic games which are featured on the soundtrack:

Lygo International, manufacturers of gaming headsets, have confirmed that they are “planning a line of headsets slated to tie in with the Wii U launch.” The Wii U GamePad includes built-in speakers and an embedded microphone for online communication but separate headsets are a welcome addition, especially for gamers who prefer using the Wii U Pro Controller.

Ice Climbers, which was originally an NES title, has been updated in the JapaneseNintendo eShop. The update brings Download Play to the Nintendo 3DS’s Ice Climbers port. Thanks to the update, Japanese gamers can now play through the multi-player mode in Ice Climbers by using two Nintendo 3DS consoles. Ice Climbers is the first virtual console title to receive Download Play. Expect the update to eventually come to other regions.

A Ubisoft developer, who is familiar with Wii U, was asked to share his thoughts on Nintendo’s upcoming console. Unlike many anonymous developers who criticize the Wii U, the Ubisoft developer is intrigued by the Wii U because it “opens up a whole new style of gameplay.” According to the developer, the Wii U GamePad is a more inviting and a more accessible device than traditional video game controllers.
