1.- Vigil, the development team behind Darksiders 2 has told the Official Nintendo Magazine that the Wii U version of the game will be unique.
More After the Break...
The unique feature will be the Wii U controller, which Vigil say they’re utilizing to its maximum potential.
“Y’know, you could just throw in anything just to throw it in but we want to make sure it really works.”The developers of Darksiders 2, a game that is set for the launch of the Wii U have explained a few of the specifics in how they're making use of the controller.
“So far we have visual parity with other formats and it’s been easy to port over, but making Darksiders 2 for Wii U is about using the system.
“In the end it’ll have such as unique control set – we think it’s the best we can make for Wii U, but will it be definitive? You tell us when it comes out!”
When you collect a new piece of loot, you just look down to see if you want it, and can equip it instantly. I can't say for sure if that'll be in the final cut, but it's really cool that the gameplay experience never has to be broken up by changing out equipment.
There's also a much more interesting advantange to the controller:
It allows for quick weapon and equipment swaps. For example, you could have two different equipment sets for Death - one that's geared towards heavy weapons and big armour, and another that's designed for mobility and quick strikes. On the Wii U, all it would take to switch from one to the other would be a hot button on the touch screen, and multiple swaps could be made during an intense combat without ever pausing.
And lastly, like we've heard before from Vigil Games, they had no trouble getting the entire game to be run via the controller itself. "It took all of five minutes and two lines of code, and boom! - there was the entire game running on the controller," according to the producer of the game.
2.- Andriasang has revealed a few new details about the highly anticipated Dragon Quest X for Wii and Wii U.
- The game’s story will have lots of volume, with the hope that players can continue to play online for a long time.
- Outside of story, you’ll find a lot of gameplay content, as each of the game’s five races have their own specific quests.
- While it’s common for online games to not have an “ending” with a “last boss,” it appears that this will not apply to DQX.
- The game’s inn facility will now have a concierge. The concierge will give you info about events.
- While the game will have auto save, you’ll still be able to go to the church to pray in order to save.
- The game will have a post office through which you can send letters and items to friends without directly meeting.
- The game world will be many times bigger than Dragon Quest VIII’s massive world.
- Your player character is actually human, but after some sort of happening, he turns into one of the five announced races.
- You start the game off in a small village, where you live with either your brother or sister. The game’s character making feature allows you to create this family member as well.
3.- There's a lot of games not coming to the Wii U. That's sort of how things go, so I'm not going to start writing about everything we won't see on the system.
Rodea was made specifically for the Wii so players could enjoy it by flicking the remote. If we tried to incorporate those controls into the large Wii U controller it wouldn’t be the same. I would really like for people to play and enjoy it on the Wii as I had originally intended.
4.- GameStops in the US are offering a Tanooki Mario keychain with preorders of Super Mario 3D Land. There are no pictures of the keychain at the moment, but you can click here to preorder the game anyway.
5.- This Wednesday sees the release of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
6.- Nintendo UK has announced that it’s releasing a new Wii bundle which includes a copy of Wii Fit Plus and a black Wii Balance Board.
