Information Update - Nintendo Wii U


1.- Justin Richmond from Naughty Dog, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Uncharted series, has told Nowgamer that he doesn’t believe that the Wii U offers anything that isn’t already available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

While this may seem like an attack at Nintendo, Richmond has conceded that the Wii U will ultimately offer gamers some fantastic games.

“To be honest with you, the idea of it is very, very cool. But there’s nothing that the Wii U has that the Vita and PS3 doesn’t. You know, it’s an interesting piece of technology, and I’m interested to see how people use it.

“I’m not completely sold yet. That the screen isn’t multi-touch, that’s a little weird,” he added.

2.- Ken Levine from Irrational Games, who is best known for his critically acclaimed Biosock franchise, has told IGN that his development team have no plans at present to develop games on the Wii U. Whilst Irrational Games currently have no plans to develop for Wii U Levine has mentioned that he’s extremely excited by the machine, so I wouldn’t completely rule anything out at this stage.

Do you have a reaction to Nintendo’s announcement, about the Wii U? I saw you were in the video they rolled.

Ken Levine: Just to be clear, there are no plans. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but we have no plans to do any games for that platform.

3.- Online gaming publication Gamasutra have written an interesting piece about why Trip Hawkins is wrong about Nintendo ushering in a “feudal dark age”. 

Hawkins is also under the impression that Nintendo and other platform holders will eventually lose out to the web browser in the near-future.  In the way that social website games will gain importance, because of them having more freedom to develop. I don't think so.

1.- Justin Richmond de Naughty Dog, el desarrollador tras la serie aclamada por las críticas Uncharted ha dicho a Nowgamer que no cree que la Nintendo Wii U ofrezca algo que no tengan ya la Play Station 3 o la PlayStation Vita.

Mientras que ésto puede parecer un ataque a Nitnendo, Richmond dice que la Wii U permitirá el desarrollo de juegos fantásticos.

“Para ser honesto con vosotros, la idea es muy, muy buena. Pero no hay nada que tenga la Nintendo Wii U que no tengan la PlayStation 3 y PSVita. Sabes, es una pieza de tecnología intrigante, y estoy muy interesado en cómo la utilizará la gente.

“No estoy completamente vendido a ella todavía. Que la pantalla no sea multitouch, es un poco raro,” añadió.

2.- Ken Levine de Irrational Games, quien es más conocido por su saga Biosock, ha dicho a IGN que su equipo de desarrollo no tiene planes de momento para Wii U. Mientras que Irrational Games no tienen todavía planes para desarrollar en la Wii U Levine ha mencionado que está muy emocionado con la nueva consola.

Ken Levine: Para ser claros, no hay planes. No digo que no pueda pasar, pero de momento no hay planes para esa plataforma.

3.- La publicación de gaming online Gamasutra han escrito una interesante pieza sobre el por qué Trip Hawkins se equivoca al decir que Nintendo conduce, manda en una "época feudal oscura". 

Hawkins también tiene la impresión de que Nintendo y las demás compañías de videojuegos acabarán perdiendo contra las capacidades de la Red, diciendo que la web ofrece ilimitada libertad con los juegos. Por lo visto cree que los juegos de redes sociales, etc. ganarán importancia.
