Information Update - Nintendo Wii U


1.- EA Sports vice president, Andrew Wilson has told Eurogamer that the company’s newly received Wii U development kits show that the Wii U can do anything Sony’s PlayStation 3 or Microsoft’s Xbox 360 can do.

“The short answer is yes [we have a better idea of Wii U's power]; the longer answer is not quite.”

“As every new piece of hardware and every new development library comes through we get a greater understanding of the power. With our early research we had been very happy with the output of the box and we expect that that will only go up moving forward.

“It’s still moving, but I think we’ll be able to do anything that we can do on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the Wii U.”

2.- Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has conducted a survey to find out what Japanese consumers think about the Wii U. Here’s the results:

•38.3 percent said they had a good impression of the Wii U after E3
•33.7 percent said they did not have a good impression
•28 percent were undecided

Many people liked the console’s potential, but 22.5 percent didn’t like the console’s name. Other people surveyed thought the Wii U seemed like a minor upgrade to the Wii.

3.- Square Enix’s worldwide technology director Julien Merceron believes that people shouldn’t doubt the Wii U even though there was some criticism after the unveiling of the console at this years E3. 

Merceron claims that if Nintendo can ready the appropriate launch titles and launch the console at an affordable price then sales will increase to undoubtably high levels.

“I’d say, don’t write off the console. For every console it’s the same thing: one of the most important things is going to be the launch line-up. We see that every time there’s a great title shipping on PSP, the PSP sales go up, and every time there’s a great title shipping on 3DS, the 3DS sales go up.

4.- Level 5, the developer behind the immensely successful Professor Layton franchise is considering porting over Professor Layton games to the Wii U. 

Level 5 see the Wii U tablet controller as a perfect fit for the stylus based puzzle franchise.

1.- El vicepresidente de EA Sports, Andrew Wilson ha dicho a Eurogamer que los nuevoskits de desarrollo enviados de la Wii U muestran que la consola es al menos capaz de hacer todo lo que la PS3 y Xbox 360 pueden.

“La respuesta corta es sí [tenemos una mayora idea del poder de la WiiU]; la respuesta larga es no lo sabemos del todo.”

“Como en toda pieza nueva de hardware comienza el proceso de conocer su poder y limitaciones. Con nuestro temprana investigación de momento estamos contentos con las capacidades de la caja, y esperamos que vaya hacia arriba.

“Sigue ahí, pero estamos seguros de que puede hacer todo lo que hacen la Sony PS3 y la Microsoft Xbox 360.”

2.- La biblia del gaming japonés Famitsu ha hecho una encuesta sobre la impresión que causó la WiiU en el país:

•38.3 % dijeron que tenían una buena impresión de la Wii U tras E3

•28 % estaban indecisos

A mucha gente le convenció el potencial de la consola, pero un 22.5 % no fue complacido por el nombre.

3.- El director de tecnología de Square Enix Julien Merceron cree que la gente no ha de criticar a la Nintendo Wii U sólo por la presentación de E3, que llevó a bastante criticismo.

Merceron dice que si Nintendo pone la consola a un precio razonable (Ya visteis el desastre de Sony y PS3 al principio) y con juegos de primeras empresas para comenzar, las ventas se dispararán.

4.- Level 5, los desarrolladores del gran juego Professor Layton están considerando llevar juegos de la saga a la Wii U. 

Level 5 ven el controlador tablet de la Wii U como algo perfecto para el tipo de juego que es Professor Layton.
