Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- American retail chain Gamestop has told GamesIndustry.Biz that sales for the Nintendo 3DS have risen dramatically since Nintendo implemented the price cut on August 12th.
More After the Break...

Gamestop president Tony Bartel told investors last night that he’s extremely encouraged by the growth in hardware.

We have seen a significant acceleration in the sale of PlayStation 3 and the 3DS,” he said. “So we do expect for there to be an increase.

2.- According to a retailer in Europe, Super Mario 3D Land will be released on November 4th and Mario Kart 7 will be released on December 2nd.

Don’t take these dates as fact, but it’s better than the other information we have, which equates to almost nothing beyond knowing the months the games are going to be released.

3.- More trailers from Gamescom 2,011 have surfaced recently, providing us with 5 minutes of Super Mario 3D Land gameplay, and a 6-minute video of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. And 11 Minutes from Resident Evil: Revelations.

4.- Nintendo is continuing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda by opening a special section in the eShop.

The section includes a Make Your Own Zelda Flipnote Video, Zelda Williams at E3 Interview, Zelda 25th Anniversary: E3 Developers Interview, and many other Zelda-related videos.

5.- Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled. People rallied. Capcom listened a little. But nothing seems to be bringing the game back.

And within the next eight hours the Japanese developer room for the game, where fans would help contribute art amongst other things to be in the final product, will be shutting down. Sad times, indeed.

6.- A teaser site for Level-5′s event in October has seemingly confirmed that 3DS games will be at the show.

The site features silhouettes of characters from games such as Professor Layton, Fantasy Life, Inazuma Eleven Go, Time Travelers, and Girl’s RPG. Level-5 will be updating the site with more details soon.

You can find the site here.

7.- Despite showing off a plethora of amazing games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Nintendo failed to win anything at this years Gamescon. EA took away the ‘Best of Gamescom’ award with Battlefield 3, whilst Sony won the award for ‘Best hardware or hardware accessory’ with the PlayStation Vita.

  • Best of Gamescom: Battlefield 3, Electronic Arts
  • Best Hardware or Hardware Accessories: PlayStation Vita, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Best Console Game: FIFA 12, Electronic Arts
  • Best Mobile Game: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Sony Computer Entertainment
