Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Nintendo has revealed that it plans to release a special edition Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary Nintendo 3DS.
More After the Break...

The black Nintendo 3DS console is due to arrive in Europe sometime later this year. Hopefully Nintendo of America will also announce the bundle.

Nintendo UK has confirmed via a press release that The Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary Nintendo 3DS console will be arriving in Europe on the 25th of November – just in time for Christmas. Nintendo of America has yet to reveal whether they’re selling the gorgeous bundle, hopefully they will announce something soon.

Super Mario 3D Land was in fact pitched by Koichi Hayashida, one of the directors on Super Mario Galaxy 2. Basically Hayashida felt that the first Super Mario Galaxy was too tough for 2D Mario gamers so he suggested developing something that would serve as an “introduction” to 3D Mario games.

“Don’t let anyone fool you who says 3D Super Mario is difficult. If you play it for yourself, a more fun future awaits—and for us as well!”

- Shigeru Miyamoto

2.- There still remains an air of confusion as to whether the Wii U will support more than one Wii U tablet controllers but according to Develop the company is hard at work trying to get the device working with two. The anonymous source has stated that Nintendo has nearly fixed the problem of supporting a second tablet, but it’s highly unlikely it will ever support four tablet controllers

“Nintendo now know they absolutely need to support two tablets.”
“At E3 they didn’t commit to this, but they know how important it is to make it technically feasible to support two screens. Even if that affects framerate, as a developer and player, I don’t care. It needs to work. Developers will design appropriate games for this. If you’re building a quiz game you’re not going to give a shit about the framerate.”

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot clearly loves the Wii U as he’s praised the console on many different occasions. However, it is interesting that he sees the causal games markets as the console’s biggest potential. Let’s just cross our fingers that the company doesn’t go overboard on creating causal Wii U experiences.

“We are big believers in the Wii U, on two subjects. One is for high-end games, where we’ll be able to do a game for the Wii U, but also for other [high-definition] machines, but also with specific use of [Wii U's] tablet. Two, is we like the Wii U for all the [potential of] casual games.”
“Today, the Wii still is 45 percent of our business. Just Dance, all those casual games, are selling extremely well. So we are supporting the machine because we believe Nintendo is going to push it to another level. We think [Wii U] will be successful.”
“Now to [what audience] will it be addressed? We don’t exactly know yet,” he conceded. “But the potential of the machine, and the tablet [controller], I think is a good way to improve the potential gameplay. What we see is the ease of play is a part of the revolution we are seeing today. The fact that it’s easier to access games is what can make more people play. Maybe they can do a good job there.”

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot claims that the company’s recently announced Drawsome tablet for the Wii ‘will help test the market’ for the Wii U before Nintendo’s next console hits stores sometime after April 2012.

3.- If you haven’t seen enough of the Ice White 3DS yet, there’s a new video after the break. There’s also a small rumour floating around that this 3DS is smaller than the regular 3DS in addition to being a different colour.

This is not true though. The design is the same. Only the colour is different.
There are a few new screenshots from Mario Tennis and the game is looking great so far.

Capcom has said in a recent Q&A they are “considering” launching Monster Hunter Tri G in other regions, but have not come to a final decision. While it certainly sounds like there’s a chance the game could see a world-wide release, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Cave Story 3D continues to receive solid scores across the web, with Game Informer and Nintendo World Report both giving it an 8/10.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed to investors that the company is hard at work creating a brand new Assassins Creed game which is due out in 2012. We already knowthat Ubisoft are working on an Assassins Creed title for the Wii U so Assassins Creed 3 or whatever its official name is will most likely be the one we get.

“I have the pleasure to announce today that there will be another full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year. It will be another major release and we will be communicating more about it in the coming months.”

4.- Nintendo has announced via a press release that the next Legend of Zelda symphony concert will take place in Dallas on January 10th. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will perform orchestral arrangements of music from the game’s 25-year history accompanied by video content from the games themselves. This new concert series will go on tour across the United States in 2012 as The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses.

“The love that fans feel for The Legend of Zelda series cannot be overstated. In 2012, we want to give people across the country a chance to come together and enjoy the music from the games that mean so much to so many.”

- Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing

5.- Wiitalia are reporting that the acclaimed Wii RPG The Last Story will be titled The Last World and will be released in Europe on February 22nd. Sadly there’s still no news as to whether Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story or Pandora’s Tower will come to North America.
