Information Update - Nintendo 3DS


1.- Kingdom Hearts series director, Tetsuya Nomura, has revealed in the latest edition of Nintendo Power that Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance will have a “surprise” at the end of the game. Nomura urges Nintendo 3DS gamers to refrain from turning off their consoles during the ending credits, otherwise they will miss the aforementioned surprise.

“For starters, there’s going to be some sort of a “surprise” during the end credits of the game. Nomura shares: “This is the first time we’re doing this, but there’s a surprise during the end credits. So even when the credits start to roll, don’t put down your N3DS, and don’t let your guard down!”
Hironobu Sakaguchi, the world-famous creator behind the Final Fantasy series and The Last Story, has joined forces with Nintendo to create a special directors cut trailer for the fantastic The Last Story. This special trailer celebrates the launch of The Last Story, which is available to purchase across Europe today.
Mesut from Nintendomination has uploaded the first two hours of the majestic The Last Story for Wii. The footage itself is extremely high quality, so if you can’t wait to purchase the game then feel free to waste away two hours watching the spectacular action unfold. The Last Story is available to purchase today is Europe, and is coming to North America sometime later this year.


2.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has taken to Twitter to address the previous rumour that Nintendo is working with third-party developers to encourage them to revive old franchises for the Nintendo 3DS. Iwata said that the report from respected Japanese paper The Nikkei that was published earlier this week was just gossip, and there was no truth to the rumour.
Club Nintendo is now offering Mario and Luigi pouches for those of you that want somewhere special to keep your Nintendo 3DS. The Mario pouch was available a while ago on Club Nintendo, but they’ve now decided to add a Luigi pouch for good measure. The Mario and Luigi pouches are available from Club Nintendo for 250 points each.

Famed Wedbush Morgan video gaming analyst Michael Pachter is under the impressionthat Wii owners have now moved onto Facebook games, and no longer have an interest in the console. Pachter believes that the bubble surrounding the Wii has finally burst, and Social games, like the ones found on Facebook, are thriving.

“Nintendo Wii fans are now playing Farmville. The Wii was a bubble. The Wii bubble has burst. As for the social bubble, I don’t think it’s a bubble. I play Facebook games with my mother. This is not a bubble.”
Nintendo of Japan has revealed the final box art for the forthcoming Fire Emblem Awakening. You’ll notice the Nintendo Network logo on the side of the box, which indicates that the game will be getting the DLC that Nintendo promised. Fire Emblem Awakening is due for release April 19th in Japan, and is due later this year in Europe.

3.- Nintendo of America has announced that Nate Stehley of Clarksville Tennessee has won alife-sized Mario Kart. Stehley won the special edition vehicle, developed by West Coast Customs, through the GameStop PowerUp Rewards program. The special kart comes complete with a decorative glider wing, as represented in the game.

Games developer Nnooo has revealed via a press release that their award-winning game escapeVektor is coming to the Nintendo 3DS. escapeVektor is a retro styled arcade game in which the player controls Vektor, an entity trapped inside the console’s CPU. The new version of the game will have new enemies and obstacles, plenty of extra levels and online leaderboards. An early build of the Nintendo 3DS version of the game will be showcased at GDC and the game is expected to be released late 2012.
“We were delighted by the reception the WiiWare™ version of the game received. We originally planned to have four Chapters but have now decided to roll them all into one game and bring it out on these new consoles to reach a wider audience.”

4.- The latest issue of Nintendo Power has an interview with Tetsuya Nomura. In the interview they talk about various aspects of Kingdom Hearts 3D including the story, the gameplay, and even a special surprise during the end credits of the game. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy was said to be selling well in Japan, and now the clarification that the game sold about 69,000 copies in its first week, but due to supply constrains by Square Enix, that amounts to 90% of its initial shipment. It might not be that bad for a spin-off game, although the whole idea that was “selling out” was misleading.

Nintendo has announced that Kid Icarus Uprising will launch in Australia and New Zealand on March 29th. This puts it just a few days after the release in Europe and North America. As in other regions, the game will come bundled with a stand for your 3DS and six augmented reality cards.
