1.- A special edition of Iwata Asks has been posted online that focuses on the Wii U. If you've been following the system since E3 there's nothing new that's said.
More After the Break...
But it is a good introduction to what Nintendo intends to do with the Wii U, and the general ideas behind it. You can click here to read the full feature.
2.- Silent Hill senior associate producer Tomm Hulett recently sat down with Siliconera to discuss the Silent Hill franchise. During the interview Hulet expressed his love for the Nintendo 3DS and stated that ‘we could really do something cool there’. Wii U is also another possible candidate for a new Silent Hill title due to its innovative touch screen controller.
Since Silent Hill already has a game coming to Vita, are you planning on a 3DS or Wii U game?
3DS, I love. I’m actually really happy with the console. We could do something cool there. Downpour is in 3D, it has that option. Hopefully, if people like that we can explore it more on 3DS. Wii U, I haven’t had a chance to check out yet. I was driving to LA during the press conference and I couldn’t see it at Nintendo’s booth. I heard some things about it. I was in charge of Shattered Memories which was designed for the Wii. I thought we did really cool stuff with motion control, so I’m sure there are some cool things we can do a touch screen in front of you and you can take it with you. Hopefully, in the future I will get a chance to see it and we can come up with some cool stuff for Silent Hill.
3.- The Official PlayStation Magazine have heard reports that Capcom will be showing off the long-awaited Resident Evil 6 at this months Tokyo Gameshow.
4.- Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted that the company are busy preparing a Wii Fit game for Wii U. Whilst it’s something Miyamoto was unable to go into detail about he did say that Nintendo is looking at different ways to do training exercises with Wii Fit using the Wii U controller
“I can’t really talk about it in detail, but we’re working on new ways to do training exercises with Wii Fit, like using the camera, you can place it against something and play while the game looks at your status.”
5.- Whenever a new piece of technology is anticipated people's expectations go through the roof and defy logic. But there's a few misconceptions that I want to address because they seem popular. So, all of the following things in relation to the Wii U are very, very, very unlikely:
- There'll be more shown off on September 13th. Nintendo is holding a press conference on the 13th of September. They haven't said it's a 3DS-centric event, but I'm sure it will be. We're coming up to the first Christmas for the 3DS and shifting focus to their other platform would be a bad idea.
- Smash Bros. will be coming out soon. Nope. It hasn't even started development yet. That means even if your idea of "soon" is two years from now, you could be expecting too much. Sakurai said he will take all the time he needs, and I expect he will.
- All of Nintendo's problems will disappear. Nintendo is adamant to say the Wii U will have plenty of third party support, a great online system and will be the system for everyone. But if it were that simple, it would have been done already. I'd expect the classic Nintendo-based problems to stick around, just maybe in a less prevalent form.
6.- The special edition Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword box set has become the number onepre-ordered item at GameStop. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword bundle includes The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a music CD soundtrack, and a Gold Wii Remote for $69.99
7.- Capcom is reissuing Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles in an exclusive bundle for Japan. The Biohazard Chronicles Value Pack goes on sale in Japan for 3,990 yen ($51).
