Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Nintendo of Europe has revealed that the Metallic Red 3DS, as its now known in Europe, is coming to Europe on the 30th of September.

This now places the new colour in all major regions.

Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive of Activision Publishing has told Industry Gamers that he believes the controversial second Circle Pad attachment for the Nintendo 3DS is a good idea claiming that it opens up the platform to different styles of games.

“Your thinking is very similar to mine. It does make the hardware more relevant and compatible to the style of games we make,” Hirshberg responded. “I don’t have anything to announce in relation to that, but I think it was a great move and it opens up that platform to more styles of games.”

There are some new pictures of the circle pad add-on that give us a better look at its features including our first clear look at the secondary shoulder buttons.

You won’t need a wrist strap but Nintendo’s second Circle Pad peripheral comes with one. Whether or not anyone will use it remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an interesting decision by Nintendo to include one.

“Attach the wrist strap to the 3DS and wear it when using this accessory.”

2.- Satoru Iwata revealed yesterday that animated shorts for Kid Icarus: Uprising will be distributed via theNintendo 3DS. Their release date is unknown but we do know they will be available worldwide.

There are animated shorts relating to Kid Icarus: Uprising that are coming to the Nintendo 3DS and it has been revealed that there will be three series. 

The first series will feature Pit as the main character in an action-oriented setting with Medusa’s minions and Thanatos, the god of death. This series will run for three episodes. 

The second series, which will run for two episodes, focuses on the comical adventures of Palutena. 

The final of the shorts is a one-episode look at Medusa’s actions up to her return in Kid Icarus: Uprising. All three series will be in full 3D.

3.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated categorically to Japanese paper the Nikkei that there’s absolutely no chance that Nintendo will develop games for smartphones despite increasing pressure from investors.

“Absolutely not” 

This is absolutely not under consideration,” replied Iwata. “If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo. Having a hardware development team in-house is a major strength. It’s the duty of management to make use of those strengths. It’s probably the correct decision in the sense that the moment we started to release games on smartphones we’d make profits. However, I believe my responsibility is not to short term profits, but to Nintendo’s mid and long term competitive strength.”

4.- Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that Super Mario 3D Land will be released on the 18th of November, while both Mario Kart 7 and Super Pokemon Rumble will be released on the 2nd of December.

Nintendo has just released a brand new The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer which shows the game’s new upgrade system. The trailer shows how you can use items received by the game’s many different enemies to upgrade your weapons and items. 

The game is due to be released in Europe on 18th November and November 20th in North America.


Nintendo America has announced via Facebook that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii will feature over one hundred minutes of cut scenes. The game will also have a boss challenge mode and optional hint movies if you get stuck. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is out November 18th in Europe and November 20th.

5.- Square Enix has released an augmented reality demo for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy in Japan via the eShop. Ran, a member of the forums was able to get the marker required to play the demo ahead of time (it wasmeant to be released during the Tokyo Game Show). 

He also translated the demo, revealing that the story involves an evil force that is tearing down the borders of the world. The main character must travel to a far off land to save the world and become a hero of light.

We have new screenshots from Fire Emblem that give us a more varied look at the game.

6.- Nintendo has released a new trailer for the immensely fun Kirby Returns To Dream Land for the Wii. 

The other good news is the game is still on schedule to launch in the United States on October 24th and in Europe sometime during December.

7.- Famitsu in Japan has just revealed some new details about Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright. According to Famitsu, the story of the game revolves around Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright meeting in a city in another world called Labyrinth City. 

Labyrinth City holds “Witch Trials” and Phoenix Wright hopes to challenge them. But these are no ordinary trials as Phoenix Wright will have to face off in questioning multiple witnesses in the games new Mob Judgement gameplay system. Layton’s role in the game is not yet known. 

Famitsu also revealed certain important characters in the game. Mahoney, a young blonde haired girl, is the accused witch that Phoenix Wright is defending and the red-haired Jeeken is the prosecutor in the case.


It was reported that Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove was delayed in North America, but now we know the game is launching on October 4th. There’s no specific release date for Natsume’s other delayed game, Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns, but it’s also set for an October release.

1.- Nintendo of Europe ha revelado que la Nintendo 3DS en Rojo Metálico saldrá el día 30 de Septiembre en el Continente. 

Ahora todas las regiones tienen este color.

Nuevas imágenes del dispositivo nos permiten observar el 2º botón R, así como el segundo análogo.

El accesorio vendrá con un wriststrap para que no se caiga.

2.- Satoru Iwata reveló ayer que habrá una serie de dibujos animados, bueno, de anime, que llegará a la Nintendo 3DS con motivo de la promoción de Kid Icarus: Uprising, via Nintendo Vídeo. La fecha de lanzamiento es secreta, pero se sabe que será posible verlos por todo el mundo.

La serie será a su vez dividida en tres "temporadas" cortas distintas. La primera será de 3 capítulos. La segunda de dos, y la tercera de tan solo 1. Todas las temporadas estarán en full 3D.

3.- El presidente de Nintendo Satoru Iwata ha establecido categóricamente al periódico Japonés the Nikkei, que no hay ninguna posibilidad de que Nintendo desarrolle para smartphones.
