Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- David Yarnton, the head of Nintendo’s UK division, says that there’s still plenty of unannounced features for Wii U that Nintendo hasn’t talked about. Yarnton also went on to say that there’s a number of games in development that haven’t been announced yet for Nintendo’s forthcoming home console.
More After the Break...

“There are so many functionalities that we actually haven’t announced yet as well. We’ve shown some things at E3. For example, there’s something like 23 games on show at E3, but we know there are others in development as well. Some of the other entertainment functionalities we didn’t show. Obviously, we talked a little about Miiverse as far as being able to socially communicate with your friends. But with a built-in camera and a screen and being online, there are a lot of areas there we haven’t explored and haven’t shown. So I think there’s a lot more that people will discover as time goes on.”

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gets irritated whenever someone claims that Nintendo lost hardcore gamers due to Wii. He says that he knows people who spend hours a day playing games on Wii. Fils-Aime admits that Wii lacked multi-platform gamesfrom “key publishers,” but promises that Wii U will be different. According to Fils-Aime, the Wii U’s capabilities provide a “huge competitive advantage versus where Nintendo was with the Wii.”

Would you admit that, with Wii, Nintendo lost some of the hardcore gaming audience?

“You know, I really chafe at that comment. Define the hardcore. I know people who are playing Smash Bros. Brawl competitively today. They’re playing hours on that game. People are playing hours on New Super Mario Bros.”

“What I’ll tell you is that with the Wii we did not have the benefit of multiplatform games from key publishers. I didn’t have The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I didn’t have the best of the Call of Duty games. That’s what I missed.”

“With the Wii U’s graphics capability, processing power, and HD-output, we’ll get those games. That’s a huge competitive advantage versus where we were with the Wii.

Eurogamer recently went hands-on with Wii U. During their trial, the Wii U GamePad’s image did not lag behind the television screen and, as a matter of fact, Wii U’s controllerrendered faster than the TV. Eurogamer claims that the Wii U GamePad’s connectivity with the TV is significantly better than the PlayStation Portable’s “heavily buffered Remote Play feature.”

A supposed document from Microsoft has revealed details about the Xbox 720. It’s unclear if the document itself is legitimate, but it was taken down from Scribd.com by a law-firm that has worked with Microsoft in the past. The document, however, “makes several assumptions about the Wii U”, “specifically claiming that the Wii U will cost around $249″. The question is, does Microsoft have inside information?

It’s in their best interests to know what the competition is doing, so I’m curious as to how much information is leaked between the big companies that never makes it to the press. What do you think?
