Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- 01Net, the publication which previously leaked key Wii U and PlayStation Vita information is now reporting that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata “is now in very delicate position, if not on an ejection seat.”
More After the Break...

If we are to believe our source, the chairman of the board, Satoru Iwata, is now in very delicate position, if not on an ejection seat. Iwata is generally appreciated by the staff of the company, many employees worried about his fate. Also according to our source, the fact that he publicly assumed responsibility for a difficult start to the 3DS and voluntarily cut his salary in half may not be enough to save his place in the medium term.

The official Korean Pokemon website asked Pokemon fans to vote for their all-time favourite Pokemon. Clearly there was a ridiculous amount of cute and adorable Pokemon to choose from but they successfully managed to select their favourite ten.

  1. Rayquaza
  2. Ditto
  3. Pikachu
  4. Kyogre
  5. Regigigas
  6. Groudon
  7. Giratina
  8. Charizard
  9. Lugia
  10. Garchomp

2.- There’s a rumor that Monolith Soft, makers of Xenoblade, will soon announce a new 3DS game. The game, which is supposedly set to be revealed in the next issue of Nintendo Dream magazine, is rumored to be an RPG that will be the third in a series.

The assumption is this will be next game in the Baten Kaitos series.

3.- N-Space, the developer behind the Call of Duty series on the Nintendo DS has announcedit’s bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon to the Nintendo 3DS. The game will be published by Atari and will be released sometime in March next year. Here’s a few details from the latest edition of Nintendo Power magazine:

- view coasters in 3D
- touchscreen controls
- built from the ground up with all-new assets exclusive to 3DS
- several coaster design options including suspended, hydraulic, wooden, steel and inverted

- in-game adviser will hep identify in-part objectives and show players their progress
- due out in March

4.-  New screenshots from Heroes of Ruin that depict the previously revealed Coral Tombs and other areas.

5.- Disney are apparently hard at work on the well received Epic Mickey game which came out late last year on Wii. Several peices of artwork found on a Disney online marketing survey seemingly confirm the game’s existence. The game is currently being developed for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Robin Burrowes, Xbox LIVE marketing manager for EMEA, has told MCV that its certain that Xbox 360 will be the best-selling games console this Christmas. Maybe they didn’t realize Nintendo is bringing out a revamped Wii and a reduced price point to coincide with the Christmas period.

“We have done that historically, where we do a number of bundles and deals. Those sort of bundles and deals will be part of how we get to that No.1 position.
“We are also pretty bullish about getting to that No.1 position on the strength of our blockbuster games, with things we are launching like Gears and Forza.“

6.- Capcom has added a limited edition 3DS protective case featuring Mega Man to their online store. The case, which was originally a Comic-con exclusive, is only availble through Capcom’s official online store and will retail for about $16. The cases will only be available in limited quantities.

7.- If you’ve been following the 3DS for a while you may remember My Garden from Electronic Arts. It was planned to be a launch title, then it was renamed to Gardens, then it was cancelled. It was also considered to be the worse game on the 3DS. But it appears that Puppies 3D from Ubisoft will soon take that crown. Here’s how the game is described:

In Puppies 3D, puppy lovers can bond and interact with a family of the most adorable puppies in a lifelike, 3D world, and choose from the most popular breeds. Players can adopt their very own puppies, take care of them, play with them, exercise them, train them, and socialize, all in an incredibly realistic and interactive three-dimensional environment! Puppies 3D will fully transport users to a puppy-loving town with interesting townsfolk to interact with.

Destructoid reports that Spider-Man: Edge of Time on the 3DS is almost identical to the console versions ofthe game in terms of story, level design, cutscenes and pretty much everything else.

They say there’s “an obvious horsepower gap between the 3DS and PS3 or Xbox 360, but the developers managed to do a very respectable job of porting that console experience over to Nintendo’s newest portable.”
